Hi everyone,
We are new to the community and this is our first post here! Our English Bulldog, Winston, is 5 years old and was diagnosed with Cushings disease in December 2020 (confirmed with ACTH test and ultrasound to confirm location of tumor). He was put on trilostane (vetoryl) immediately and initially had some good results, but his symptoms have come back full force :( Part of his struggles with his Cushings are his skin issues. He has calcinosis cutis, a symptom of Cushings, in which his skin calcifies and falls off. He is been on multiple antibiotics, creams, medicated shampoos, etc and nothing seems to help. We have an appointment scheduled with an internal medicine specialist to determine the best course of action moving forward, but we wanted to post here to see if anyone has similar experiences or suggestions for what we can do to make him most comfortable while we wait for his appointment. Our main concern right now is his skin… we are cleaning it and putting neosporin but we are unsure if there’s more we can do for him. We are also open to any other suggestions and/or advice others may have for treating Cushings in general.
Thank you all SO much!

First, welcome to the community. We are very happy to have Mr. Winston and you here. Second, sorry to hear about your little buddy. Unfortunately I am not one for helping you out with that matter. I have no experience with Cushings disease at all. But there are many members here who may be able to and are very willing to help you out with Winston and his problems. We wish him and you the best of luck in hopes that you can find and do something to relieve his Cushings disease. Good luck to you both.

Poor baby. I wish I could help. I agree about trying NuStock as at this point you really have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Check Zedsded's recent post about using Nustock if you are not familiar with it. I hope Winston gets some relief soon.

Welcome to EBN... and I'm SO sorry to hear about Mr. Winston. My boxer Roxie had CUSHINGS , and she was on meds for a little bit. We never had the skin issues, so I'm sorry I don't have more information on that aspect. I could immediately tell when her meds were off, she would pace at night and constantly have accidents in the house.

Welcome @MrWinston happy that you are here! I have no experience with Cushings, but I believe NuStock would help with his wounds. It hasn't failed so far. Perhaps @oscarmayer has some suggestions.
Thank you! I just learned about NuStock from another group I’m in. We somehow scored an appointment with a dermatologist tomorrow morning so we are going to ask about this as well!

Yeah, we recently learned that his vet actually prescribed him meds that were double the mg they should’ve been and his body likely went into shock from too low of cortisol 😔
