Hello i am Jose proud father of Benjamin the Bulldog. I was searching for forums to talk about the Death of my Beautiful boy Benjamin. He passed away yesterday 02/16/2022, He was born 12/10/2018 and he was named Benjamin. Yesterday morning we woke up and he was breathing uneasy kinda like when you have a stuffy nasal passage way . We thought he just slept threw the cold without his blanket and got a stuffy nose from the wind and or cold. It was about an hour or two from when he started to barf what he had eaten so we rushed him to our local emergency vet in San Dimas California. They took him immediately and had us wait in the wait room, 30 minutes later they came to us and told us he had aspiration pneumonia. They had him on a breathing tube that was for a small dog size because they didn’t have the right one in stock for his size .They then told us we couldn’t keep him there but he needed to keep receiving oxygen so they offered oxygen tanks that lasted 5 min of oxygen per tank but only had 5 tanks and needed to travel 45 minutes to the next emergency vet who was able to keep him overnight. They gave us the last option which was to put him down. We suddenly we’re faced to face with the hardest decision me and my wife have ever had to make. We had to put him down and stop watching him suffer. He was our only Child. He was My Son. I will have him with me for the rest of my life and love him with all my might all my Heart as long as I live. I write this to all English Bulldog owners and pet owners so they could be aware and take immediate action when your pet has these issues. ALSO I am writing this so you can make sure your local vet and emergency vet has the correct equipment in stock for any situation. For us they did not have oxygen tanks for our Dog Benjamin to be transported to the Vet who could assist and potentially have saved his life. I hope you take this knowledge in preparedness god forbid but if ever you come face to face with this. Thank You. We Love Benny R.I.P 12/10/2018 - 02/16/2022

Please know that most of us understand your devastating loss. Your boy was so handsome and we all know he was your son, as our bullies are considered our children. They are more "childlike" than other breeds.It will take a long time before the pain gets bearable, and someday you may need to fill the void. GOD be with you.
