Today we rescued a English Bulldog. She was in pretty bad condition. We got her home and bathed her, as she has been a kennel dog her whole life. We will be taking her the our vet for a visit on Friday.

In the mean time, weā€™re a little curious about her feet and face. Any ideas...

Weā€™re not sure what food she was eating. We plan to change her immediately to Acana like we feed our others.

That looks like Interdigital Cysts. Poor baby. There is information on this site about it or you can look it up online.

Thank you for rescuing her, you will have the best dog ever!

PawPatrol yes itā€™s Interdigital Cysts. My previous EB had them often. I used bag balm or NuStock. Applied on a dry paw n I put a sock on. They dry up n will burst. Itā€™s normal in EB n itā€™s either they get it often or now n then. If vet wants to give her antibiotics for the paws, dont, itā€™s nothing dangerous. Even soak the paws in epsom salt.

Looking at the paw photo, looks like she lost her web between the paws. EB have web feet. I presume itā€™s her being locked up in a kennel without a bottom. The chin is acne. It also goes away. As you probably know, simply clean n dry after each meal n water. You can use medicated pads. Acana is perfect n I would get her on a good probiotic. Also add raw organs as a topper. For her to be in a kennel her whole life, she wasnā€™t taken care of. Poor thing. Organs has a lot of probiotics. You can also add fermented sauerkraut or fermented veggies. One tablespoon per day.

Keep us posted. We love hearing about rescues with their new adventure. THANK YOU!

Poor little girl and how lucky she is to be taken care of now. Chlorehexidine is good for furunculosis it that is what she has on her feet as it will kill bacteria but your vet will probably tel lyou it might have to do with allergy,. etc. When Castor gets blisters like these (typically diring the cold and wet part of the year), we use chlorehexidine and sometimes I also use zinc oxide (when he sleeps so he won't put it on carpets and rugs!). There are good Chlorehexidine shampoos (then you leave it on for 5-10 mins before you rinse it off) and it is essential to wipe the feet if it's wet outside and after baths so they stay dry. We buy chlorehexidine at the phramacy (5 mg/ml) and sometimes dilute it. Ask your vet what they think.

Possible it is yeast/allergies. You may have some socialization issues. Give lots of TLC.

Thanks for rescuing her

What a beautiful girl.... thank you for saving her and giving her a new chance on life.

The paws are due to allergies/weak immune system, give a probiotic and as others mentioned there are a few ways to clean. For foo, with bulldogs, don't know why but chicken seems to be an issue so use duck, turkey or other protien than that to help keep issues away

She is 2 years old. We bathed her with a Chlorahexadine/Ketoconazole shampoo and it helped with the redness on her paws and face. I have been cleaning her face with Malacetic wipes and the dermatitis has improved.

We have changed her food to a raw lamb diet (Stella & Chewyā€™s). She does have some socialization issues...she is aggressive if the other bulldogs come close to her bed. We will continue to work through each issue one at a time. She is doing well and seems happy.

Lovely pictures! You said initially that she had been a kennel dog all her life. Does that involve her having lived in a cage or just that she was used for breeding (and apparently not well cared for)? I hope she finds her place in your pack and that she realises how happy she is to be in a good situation!

Great to hear that chlorehexidine shampoo helps her feet.

The socialization issues will likely not improve much and she will require "management" her entire life. I hope that she is an exception to this.
TYVM for rescuing her!

She was raised outside in a kennel for breeding purposes with limited human contact. There were many dogs around her and they were separated with chain link fencing.

It is horrible to hear how some people treat these amazing dogs. They use them for their own financial gain, and all these dogs want is love. I am so glad to hear that you have given her a second chance at an amazing life. She deserves it, and will bring you loads of happiness.
