PETA suing AKC about ‘deformed’ breeds

PETA has filed a lawsuit against the AKC to force it to change breed standards for bulldogs, French bulldogs, Chinese Shar Pei and dachshunds. The AKC replied it doesn’t set the standards; that’s up to the national clubs. The Bulldog Club of America hasn’t changed its standards since the 1920’s, near as I can tell. PETA tried the same campaign in New Hampshire last year, claiming the “deformities” amounted to “animal cruelty” and the bill died on the table there. As a member of the BCA, I’m going to give whatever support I can to quash the lawsuit against the AKC. Yeah, they need to be going after the backyard greeders not the breeders who are setting a good standard and delivering healthy puppies. Although the AKC does have an issue with allowing non-standard puppies to be registered, which gives a false impression to the public.

About 10yrs ago, I was watching an American tv show. Can’t recall which one. But, it was on PETA. There was a hidden camera, and at night, PETA would dispose dead pets in the dumpsters. The journalist would go ask questions to PETA showing them the hidden camera evidence and PETA refused to answer questions and slammed the door on the journalist. Sure looked fishy for PETA

I’m not a fan of that organization at all… as with a lot of those types— it’s politically motivated at times and they lose site of the original cause
