Question for you folks, Now I'm not talking about Old Tyme Bulldogs, or breeders that want specific traits in the breed. just the name, are they English Bulldogs or British Bulldogs? I've always known them as BBDs. Now! I have asked Jeffo this question, and he has deffo said, he is a BBD, and that's on his Pedigree :ROFLMAO: and you really don't want to argue with Jeffo:ROFLMAO: Maybe a vote:LOL:

Same breed……Kennel Club fixed it, calls them Bulldogs. 🤷🏼‍♀️

In the UK some insurance companies, class Bulldogs across the board, and others don't, if you don't declare BBD and you make a claim, it will be declined. That assuming the dog is not a cross, in that case its a Bulldog. Plus insurance companies don't always tell you this when you take the policy out, although it is in the 38 pages of small print, together with classing one eye as two, one ear as two, and so on. Not may people know this when the policy is taken out.

Yeah… AKC just refers to “Bulldog”. But I also noticed when selecting breed almost every site or firm has English Bulldog as the only option

Hey Lennie and Happy New Year. Lou is a Hillbilly Bulldogge but as long as you blow balloons 🎈 up he probably wouldn't mind you calling him a BBD.

Happy New Year to you, Lou looks like a playful pup how old is he?

Obedient WOW! I wish I could say the same about Jeffo, just look at the photo on the left, that says it all. Most of the time he is okay, although sometimes it is a tussle. But I wouldn't swop him for the world:)

This is a complicated one! Bulldogs aren’t recognised as pure breeds in the U.K. because the original British bulldogs are now extinct . They are recognised in the separate clubs such as English bulldog club, olde Tyme English bulldogge club etc. For me personally all though I call them , olde Tyme, old English bulldogs etc they are what they initially were ..British Bulldogs. It’s just as usual us humans came along and effed them up!

Originally they were known as the English Bulldog, they were Englands national breed. Then they started to become known as the British bulldog when we started re breeding them to be what they are now, for bull baiting. They were also used in the war as British Bulldogs as a symbol for our country. Says a lot about people really!
It would be interesting to know what people from the USA and other countries call them.
