Heā€™s been leaking urine since we got him, 3-4 months ago. X-rays showed the stones and today was his surgery day. Heā€™s in a lot of discomfort after a 2 hour procedure and his underside is very swollen. Hopefully, this will get him started on a complete recovery.

Yes...that was in his bladder. His bladder wall is 15-17mm thick. Should be 2-4mm. Dov had a hard time getting through it to retrieve the stone. Once she got the big stone out she tried to flush the little stones from the urethra back into the opened bladder. That did not work so she had to open up the Urethra. She got 2 little stones that way and flushed 2 others back into the bladder.
Joker was in space this AM when he got up but for the first time since we've had him, he did not pee(or leak) in his kennel. He's in for a slow difficult recovery but what I see so far is very encouraging.

oscarmayer You sure did RESCUE this poor fella'. He probably had not very much life left, from the looks of those stones. Actually amazing that ANY urine leaked out! You are such a HERO to these dogs, and wish I could be like you! Thank you for all you do for these precious bullies!

Geez, thought you added a chicken nugget as a joke but heh, what a stone! Amazing what can sit in a body.

Good... he was also neutered at the same time. Besides pretending to "pee" everywhere, and of course they put him on a new diet.

Very kinds words...but we have developed the resources and have a great supporting cast. We do it because we love to and get great satisfaction from our successes.
Itā€™s like have a job that you love so much it doesnā€™t seem like work! Canā€™t claim to be heroic when the rewards are so great.
Speaking of rewards...
4 dog beds, 6 kennels, 3 recliners and a couch...
And where do these 2 prefer to lounge???

So glad to hear he has had his op and is on the road to recovery.

When Dudley had his emergency operations for kidney stones he was in so much pain it was horrible and his recovery was slow and he really wasnā€™t himself at all for at least a week then he started to pick up.

We had real trouble getting him to drink for the first couple of days and was a massive relief when he had his first big drink.

Dudley had to be on a wet diet after his op to try and keep his urine more dilute and we also bought home test strips to keep an eye on his acid levels.
