I wanted to share this is anyone who is going through a leukaemia diagnosis. Wilbur was diagnosed after he developed hydrocephalus (see my other thread), through bloodwork and specialized testing.

Although I didn't opt for aggressive radiation and chemotherapy, I did put him on chlorambucil which is a chemo drug designed to lower the white blood cell count.
He is also on prednisolone, which is used in conjunction with chlorambucil. He is also on the steroid to manage his hydrocephalus (keep fluid production down).

After a month of this protocol he is in remission! He is now down to 1 mg per day, and 5mg per day of pred. He seems to be doing very well. Bloodwork is checked once a month.

I just wanted to share this, that there is hope. I don't know how much time I will have with him, because I know remission is not a cure. But it has given me hope, and most of all more time with my boy. As long as he is feeling ok and his labs are good, I am grateful.

xo!
