Help Please with 1 Yr Male

We have just taken In a 1 year old Male that's not neutered

We were told he was being rehomed because he was growling at there little girl and she was worried hence rehoming

We got him last Friday everything been going fine he's sweet friendly in the house towards myself and the gf when were out on the lead fine with other dogs people

Our son came home after a week away first time he's met Tyson he's 20 6ft came in Tyson was at the stair gate friendly waging his tail let him in the living room son sat down Tyson sat down next to him with his back to son then all of a sudden Tyson went for him tried to bite him about 4 times I had to take Tyson and put him in another room

A hour later I told son to give Tyson a treat while he was behind the stair gate and he went mad jumping growling

So if anyone can give us some advice that would be great as my sons scared of him now

I forgot to mention he is itching quite a lot and has a bald patch on his skin according to the previous owner it was caused by a change in food and he's on Grain free food now to stop it

I don't know if that has anything to do with it either

Sounds like he's guarding you. He has ZERO bite inhibition and is being aggressive for no apparent reason. This is either guarding, fear biting or he has bad wiring. You should return him right away before someone gets seriously hurt.

Agree -- you were not given all the information on this boy. Either hire an i home trainer to determine the issue or you might have bigger problems down the road.

I have just read your post and I empathize with your circumstances.

Secondly, thank you for you and your GF taking in Tyson.

My wife and I recently re-homed Cooper (i.e. as of September 1, 2022). Cooper is now 4 years old. He was not properly socialized due to Covid crap. The couple we got him from also had issues as a newborn baby was getting his daddy's attention and not Cooper. Cooper was nipping at the baby's feet when Dad was holding him. The couple had tried everything under the sun to keep Cooper. They took him to a vet, a trainer, and a behavioral specialist. Vet said he was OK. I do not know what training Cooper had; however, he definitely is food oriented and will lay down before he is given his food and we say it is OK to release to eat. He sits on command. He also resource guards especially with a ball. He also will nip at the wife and I as I think he has an ear fedish. The behavioral specialist diagnosed and prescribed Gabapentin for pain and Trazadone for anxiety. We took him off of those meds and still has the same issues. He has lunged at my neighbor (ATF Guy) but we told Mark not to make sudden moves and let him sniff an open hand. Cooper seemed fine but we still have him on lead to pull him back in case of lunging to redirect and focus on myself or the wife. Cooper is aggressive towards other animals even ones on the TV watching pet shows. We too are going through training. Cooper is toast after an hour of training. But as posted on another thread..."A tired dog is a good dog." We are working with Cooper so we can be social with other animals. Even though Cooper is 4 years old, he is still a work in progress.
