A few treats during the day are just fine. Simply pull a few nuggets of kibble from their morning ration and use those to treat...same for evening ration.

I am at a loss! Started last Thursday night/Friday morning, my hubby came home early morning to find poo in Gilbert's tent (little pop up tent we use as a kennel for nighttime and when gone..he loves it!). Ok...Gilbert has not pooped in his kennel and/or tent (have both..just different areas of house...live in split level) since he was about 9-10 weeks old (pooped once in kennel and hasn't since recently). Ok...he is still a puppy (he is just over 6 mos)..accidents happen...right? Woke up Saturday morning to the same thing! Noticed poops aren't as solid and his poop schedule is almost 12 hrs different. On Saturday night I slept in same room (family room..closest to outside) to see how he would do overnight..he had to go out every couple hours...long story short...hardly poops during day anymore..been pooping mostly at night/middle of night...poop is not solid (soft serve mostly) I have managed maybe 4 solid movements total (over 2 days) then soft serve after that..last Thursday when started..he had a marrow bone (2nd one in a week) tried some orange/mandarin slices and homemade treats (coconut flour, coconut oil, peanut butter and pumpkin)..has some acana pork treats and some freeze dried beef liver treats (those are fairly new). Gilbert eats Fromm Heartland Gold lrg breed puppy (since 1-2wks after we have gotten him). Eats 3 times a day..roughly 2.5-3 cups a day (he weighs 48lbs) for breakfast i add coconut oil..lunch i add pumpkin and dinner green beans. Last couple days he has only been getting his food with pumpkin at all 3 meals..no treats..probably why i am getting a few normal poops..I am at a complete loss! Do I take all food away? Start a bland diet? Time for the vet? We did introduce starting to take a walk around the block...at a snails pace..pants most way around and after get home..normal? But we do have a fairly decent sized fenced yard ..so maybe walks are an overkill. Eats and plays normally..notice more panting after play..but weather is getting warmer here (50-60s). Sorry if alot..just at a loss of what to do next. Gilbert is my first bulldog and want to do everything right. Thanks!

Sorry for joining this thread late but for what it’s worth i know for definite that if i had given Dudley two bones and the other selection of treats he would of had the runs! :D

It sounds like your getting on top of it now which is great news, maybe try to reduce the amount of different types of treats he gets at the same time it just makes it easier to narrow down a culprit when something’s not right.

That’s so hard to do when they give you there best cute “one more treat please” face :D

It sounds like your getting on top of it now which is great news, maybe try to reduce the amount of different types of treats he gets at the same time it just makes it easier to narrow down a culprit when something’s not right.

That’s so hard to do when they give you there best cute “one more treat please” face :D

Those faces are definitely hard to resist, that's for sure!!

My 10-year-old bulldog was just diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He s on one heart medicine (Enalapril ) and he s better but I’m wondering what I can do to give him better health, time, and quality of life. I think about low sodium dog food.

I cannot recall ANY of our rescues with CHF that weren’t on Lasix(or some type of diuretic). Is your Bulldog being treated by a specialist? If not, see one right away. Ask about a diuretic.

I have a question, does your dog also cough? Enalapril can affect the heart or the electrolyte levels. You should definitely ask your vet the side effects n why that med.

To strengthen the heart muscle Coenzyme Q10 is a good supplement. In a nutshell CQ acts as an antioxidant that makes the heart muscles stronger n improving heart muscle oxygenation. Also there’s Oil of Oregano. NOT the essential oil but the one you buy at the health food store that you use orally. I use it daily and/or every other day for my 2 n myself. I put 1-2 drops in their meat. They’re on a raw diet. OOO contains Vitamins A, B6, C, and E. These vitamins are also antioxidants n are important as they help remove “free radicals” from the body, plus preventing damage caused to the heart by the free radicals. OOO you still can give it even on meds. BUT, if he takes his meds in the morning you’ll mix OOO in his supper meal.

Remember...ANY supplements, you NEVER give it at the same time as meds. Same rule for humans. I am NOT a vet but been doing holistic way for decades. You still need to consult with your vet. Bare in mind, this is my personal input n I would do it for my dogs. This is a suggestion ONLY as you asked n again consult with your vet.

I was also thinking maybe too much pumpkin. I keep pumpkin in the house for either constipation or diarrhea. It helps for both, so,too much may be too much fibre for him, and cause the loose stools?
