Hi ALL
So nice to find camaraderie with this very special breed. Many years of experience here. Grew up in Southern California, mom was a successful breeder/handler during the 80ās. I traveled along with her for years and handled as well. That said, I am not interested in either breeding or handling. Just not a fan of whatās happened to this breed over the years.
I will always have bulldogs! Currently I have a 10 year old rescue, Tudy and a 17 weeks male, Leo. I havenāt raised a puppy in over ten years and had completely forgotten about the shark bite period! He is very typical bully! Heās positively fearless, independent, and of course dependent on me to be his Momma. Heās still suckling on me or blankets. I feel itās more common behavior in the breed over the last 20 years. The 3 pups I have raised as an adult have all done it and it continued into adult and senior years. All 3 were with their litter mates passed 8 weeks. I actually prefer it as itās a very private and comforting behavior for them.
My rescue was best guessed to be 4 when I adopted her and sheās about 8 now. Iām certain she was crated her whole life prior to me as her paw pads were not calloused and presented soft and jelly like puppies. She has come a loooong way with much progress in the last year!
The 3 of us live in the country of suburban Portland OR with my BF and his two Great Danes.
Just wanted to say hi, post a pic or two and connect with fellow bulldoggers.
