Hey there... I have a female that I have had 1 week as of today. She is almost 10 months old. I am trying to decide if she has started her first heat. I have no seen blood. Are there any other indiciaters that would help?
I just took her to the vet on Friday to have a wellness exam and they said nothing about it

I have a male that is almost 9 months so I need to keep them apart ya know.....
Thank you in advance for your help. I am just trying to be proactive

Yes, their "girlie bits" will swell up to about 4x the normal size or more! And your boy will act like he's gone :loco: it's best to keep them on two separate sides of the house if possible. If her girlie bits are not swollen you may want to get her fixed right away before you are stuck waiting several months.

As Lisa says the girlie bits get quite big well it did with my pug.

Are you planning to have her spayed???

If so, and she DOES go into heat, make sure you wait until the heat is well and truly over. The risk is much greater of them bleeding out if you spay during a heat.

Thank you all! I noticed she was swollen but had to be sure. She has only been apart of my family for a week so it was a little difficult to tell.
starting this morning Zeus and paisley went out at different times.

Ya what they said, and it will last about a month, so wait about two to three months after she is finished to get her spayed.
