My bulldog has what started as an ulcer and progressed to a cornel interstromal hemorrhage. We will be headed to a doggie ophthalmologist but the first opening isn't for 3 weeks. I am curious if anyone has had a similar issue. Also any tips or tricks to keep her from rubbing her eye... Iā€™ve tried a cone of shame, but her neck is bigger then her head so it just slides off....

My Buster recently had a conjunctival graft after rupturing his eye. It was difficult to keep the cone on but it was really the only way. Does he have a collar you can attach it to? When we were around him during the day, we used a blow-up collar on him and watched him constantly, at night, he was in his crate with the cone. Your poor baby. Are there any other ophthalmologists in your area where you can get him in sooner? The blow-up collar is not ideal because they can get a leg up or get it off but we managed as I was home all day and watched him like a hawk!

Do you have drops for his eye? They are vital.

She is on an antibiotic eye drop and the usually Tacrolimus for dry eye. There arenā€™t many ophthalmologists in my state that are Board certified.... unfortunately.... I am going to check back with my vet to make sure she thinks it can wait or not... Porky doesnā€™t seem bothered at the moment by it.

Did your doggies eye look similar? Did your dog have to be put under for it?

Did your doggies eye look similar? Did your dog have to be put under for it?

Buster's eye was quite scarred from entropion. We had that taken care of four days after we got him but the damage was already done. A few months later he bumped into a door jamb (at the vets luckily) busting to get out of there. She saw what had happened and got us into the specialist within a couple of hours. Unfortunately, it was a Friday evening and they had to open the office for us. They had to put him under for about 45 minutes. His eye still looks pretty gross but at least he still has his eye and has some vision.

Busters cornea looked kinda lumpy from the scarring.

So turns out Porky has canine herpes virus, which is why the treatment wasnā€™t helping.... now a different path of treatment and hopefully the virus will go dormant

Fingers crossed the treatment works. Let us know.
