eye goop

I read 'somewhere' (i think a different site) that if your dog has eye goop in the morning, it's a sign of either allergy or dry eye. Any incite to this? And what would be suggested to help. Hanks face is beautiful, only slight drip at times, but, he does wake up with eye crud.

Morning goop... as long as it is clear it is allergies .... any yellow or green color is sign of infection
