Has anybody had their bullies dew claws removed? Was thinking of having Mannies removed but have read that it's not advisable now he's nearly two.

Why does he need to have it removed?

Dew claws are basically your dog’s utility-thumb. Unless there is something seriously wrong with the dewclaw, removal seems mean to me.

Anesthesia is also dangerous for little Manny.

Awesome. I think it's mean as well, like tail docking, I wouldn't have had his tail docked if we had him from a pup.

Is his tail docked? Bulldog tails are naturally very short, sometimes screwed up in a bun.

I've never heard of docking them, but sometimes removal is required.

Keep his dewclaw it will help him grab onto bones and toys and stuff. Hunting dogs sometimes get them removed for safety reasons but that won't be relevant for a bulldog. Keep it ground down short with the rest of his nails and he will love you for it 🤩

Millie is using her dewclaw right now so I had her pose for a photo and then her non-docked full length tail

Ah. I thought they had medium to long tails. So Mannies tail isn't docked. Nice.

Does Millie chew and bite her dew claws? Manny seems to bite his.

Do not remove the dew claws. And bulldog tails should not be docked.

Agreed… no need unless there is an issue
