  • I'm thinking of you today... I hope the move to the dorm goes smoothly. My son has freshman orientation today, and classes start Monday!!! Time just flies by... :*(
My son is the worst, he's always last minute... especially w/this college stuff! Must be the age... LOL Have you found a house to move to yet? We would love to downsize, but we will have to wait for awhile... sigh :(
UGH... Well I can't imagine how that is going to feel for you, but I know you must be so proud of your baby girl :D Just enjoy your last week together, who knows she may come home every weekend!!! LOL
Thanks... well my son is totally last minute!!! Drives me insane... classes for him start this Friday. When does your daughter start? Is she already at her dorm? I'm glad that you get the refund... it's so stupid that they wait till the last minute!!! I don't get it... LOL
Hey I was wondering what happened yesterday w/the scholarships?!! Good news I hope... we found out that Logan got the HOPE scholarship. $4,000 a year!!! But of course I already paid for this semester, so I guess I get the refund check... Bummer!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!! As soon as I learn to do all those cool smiley's everyone is in trouble!! Hahaha!!
I agree... they did a panel of 42 things & I was allergic to 39 of them!!! INCLUDING DOGS!!! We had a house full of dogs & cats at the time... go figure!!! LOL
I was getting allergy induced migraines... it was horrible. So now 2 years later, I'm down to a nasal spray and 3 shots once a month. I only get a migraine a couple times a year... it's been a lifesaver!
Oh wow... I've been to the Dallas airport, but never seen Texas besides that. I would love to go visit... Tennessee is beautiful, but my allergies have been horrid here!!! I've been getting shots for 2 years now... LOL We would like to downsize, but that won't happen anytime soon!!!
We live in Clarksville, TN about 45 min outside Nashville. We are originally from Arlington, VA outside of Washington DC. My hubby was stationed at Ft. Campbell for years so we just ended up here... LOL Where are you guys in Texas?
My son had to confirm classes by the 18th, so we did it yesterday. At midnight on the 18th they dump all the classes that are unpaid for, so then the scramble begins to change your schedule. My son's schedule is NOT great for working too, but of course that's what you get when you register late. I'm sure financial aid will be more that happy to get you a loan... I was really PISSED at the parent orientation. In my day, and I went to college for 2 1/2years, if you didn't have a scholarship or had parents to help pay you didn't go to college... it was that simple. Now they will let an 18 year old kid sign for his OWN loan which will be about $22,000 a year to stay @ APSU. If that kid doesn't graduate or even when he does times 4 years of course... well it's pay back your college loan time. NO wonder kids are still living at home to pay off their loans. Unbelievable...
OMG... that is SO stupid about the scholarships!!! I can't believe you have to wait... what if you didn't have the funds & needed a loan? Are they going to give you that the day classes start?!! My son didn't bother to do his FASFA so we had to scramble on that, so I had just planned to pay ahead & see if we get a refund. Luckily we have the money, but I feel really bad for those who don't. It's such a damn mess... My son had software on one of his books too, I think that one was over $150 for RENT!!! I HATE last minute too, and it looks like colleges are all about that these days!!! I was supposed to go to college in Savannah... I have never been, but I've heard it's really nice. Never been to St. George Island either... that so awesome that you got some trips planned. I would just LOVE to have a getaway w/out kids. My hubby comes back before Christmas, and I think I'm gonna plan a weekend for just US!!! LOL
Oh you must be so proud of your daughter!!! Congratulations... Holy COW I can't believe you are still paying 9 grand... that is crazy!!! I was going to order off Amazon, but my son works & trying to find a time where he is home and we could do it was becoming an issue... I just decided for this semester to make it easy & go ahead to the bookstore. Next time I will hit Amazon... UNREAL!!! I was just skyping my hubby all the fees we paid yesterday... YEAH!!! Oh please don't apologize, my hubby is retired Army and over there as an IC. He has done this for many years, and he LOVES his job. We are so used to him being gone... it just stinks when he has to miss those special times :( I know it will be hard when my kids are gone, but it would be so NICE to enjoy a weekend of our choice to do whatever WE want to do... We have always put our kids first, but I'm so ready for a break!!! LOL
It ended up costing about $5,000 when it's all said & done... Of course my son didn't get his GPA up high enough to get a lot of scholarships or grants... He will be living at home, and working at Kroger. APSU has mostly commuter students, but I almost DIED at the parent orientation when they told us how much the room & board would be... UNREAL!!! The books were $568 & we RENTED all of them, including 2 used books!!! I don't understand why the cost is that much... Good LORD!!! I'm so sorry your hubby won't be with you... my hubby is in Afghanistan right now, so he's missed all the starting college drama.
