Sounds like you've made the best decision.
Our decision to go for neutering really was based on his awful, dominant behaviour but even then we knew it might not help. Luckily it did!!
Whether to do it in the future is another decision - and one that a lot of people seem to have strong opinions...
Thanks for the advice!!
I'm just a bit unsure on getting sharp scissors near him. If he decides he's not gonna play ball, or freaks out then I don't want him ending up getting hurt.
But I also don't want to have to get him sedated. He's such a frustrating boy to try & help!!
Sent from my ASUS...
Whether neutering will help really depends on the reason for the humping.
Reggie used to do it all the time, mostly due to his dominance issues. Since he was neutered he hardly ever humps. But they can hump when really excited too - and every now and again Reggie will get hyped up chasing the...
Clermont Yeah, his stink eye is second to none. I get that look quite regularly :D Texas Carol Thanks very much :) He certainly has filled out nicely! He'll be 2 in August. Quite happy with his shape at the moment!
Managed to get a couple more uploaded. I love the first one - he always...
Manydogs Yes he has!!! Having his youknowwhats removed did him the world of good :D He's now our 5 month old boys best friend.
He still gets a bit snappy when he's not feeling well, like this week. He keeps trying to play with Kevs other son (age 17), but getting really growly and snappy :(...
Glad its better!! To speed recovery up I'm hearing great things about medihoney (various brands). There are derma creams which I'm not sure are ok for dogs (but I'm trying to find out), but theres also dressings that are ok.
Hi all,
Hoping for some advice on how to deal with this.
I'm 100% sure that Reggie has hyperkeratosis on his paw pads - his feet look exactly like the pictures I've found online.
Now, I've read a lot of information that says the hyperkeratosis has to be trimmed back, and then his pads need to...
Hi all,
Apologies for not being around for a while! I'd love to do a full update and catch up but we got a situation here, and the vets closed until tomorrow.
So, sometimes Reggie is sick in the morning. Its always before he eats, just yellow bile. Vet said mild gastric (acid) reflux, but...
oscarmayer Thanks! Have just googled it, they are available over here but BOY are they expensive! Although if he continues to eat more reasonable priced beds, than it will work out in the long run. 7 years is very impressive!
He vomited again this morning :( Same as yesterday, only once and he seems ok. He had already eaten all of it by the time I got in there, so I don't know if any pieces of anything were in there.
From all my research today Reggie has all the symptoms of small bowel (intestine) diarreah - which...
You can also give scrambled egg & rice as a bland diet. Full of protein & very easy to digest.
Let us know how it goes at the vet, but very glad he's holding his water down!
Hopefully the diarrhea resolves itself, if not then its stool sample time!
Poor Princess - please update us on her condition when you can.
Reggie always acts really strange, and pants even in cool weather when he is in pain. First it was a nasty campylobacter infection, this time we think it may be a bad worm infestation. We haven't been able to worm him for a while...
