Did you try the vegetarian diet? I have been researching trying it now, too, as I suspect Shakespeare may be allergic to chicken (which makes of the majority of his raw fed diet).
Shakespeare had one cherry eye pop at 4 months, and the next one 3 weeks after we got the first one fixed! After lots of research and consults, we opted to have them both removed. Everyone I know that had it tucked, had it pop out and ultimately had to have it removed. The vet explained that...
I've been to over 30 markets (mom & pop as well as larger stores) in a 50 mile radius and still not much luck! They either don't have organs (or cheaper meats) or what they have is way expensive. I can buy pork kidney and liver at 99 Ranch Market (Asian market) for $1.69 and $2.39. I can't find...
Thanks for the suggestion! I joined a few different coops when I first started but they are still too expensive (even with member pricing) plus the pickup places are all too far away. Just checked out SF Raw again since I haven't looked in awhile, but it won't work for me since I try to say...
I feed raw and spent about 6 months (daily) researching before I felt confident enough to try it when we brought our 8 week old home. Then I second guessed myself everyday for 2 months once we started and my husband would come home from work everyday with another person's "concerns".
I...
We feed raw so I can't advise on the food but have you thought about trying Claritin? Shakespeare had a very red chin for a while (and acne) as well as watery eyes and runny nose. I gave him 10mg (15-39 lbs) of Claritin each morning and I saw a dramatic difference over a few days. I gave it to...
At night, Shakespeare sleeps in his crate but during the day he will sleep on the concrete outside, on the wood floor, or in his bed (usually with his head hanging out and on the floor). I do think he likes the coolness of the floor!
We've been using the spray bottle as a deterrent from jumping up on the furniture and that has helped some. I haven't done it for the chewing so I'll try that in addition to spraying a little cayenne pepper & water on the furniture legs.
Thanks everyone! :)
Has anyone tried cayenne pepper and water to spray on furniture? It was recommended online. I'm thinking of trying it on my new outdoor furniture that he already started gnawing on.
He has constant energy-- we take him for extended walks and outings and give him plenty of room to run. I would say that he gets heavy amounts of exercise daily. He is on a raw diet and is on the more slender side. Even when we are in the middle of playing with him, he will all of a sudden...
Just a week or so ago, Shakespeare started chewing up furniture. When he was little(r), he'd take an occasional nibble at the bottom corner of an Ottoman or chair. Now he is literally destroying everything! He has completely torn up his doghouse that he otherwise ignored and now started in...
We have never allowed Shakespeare (now 9 months) up on any furniture. He used to jump up on the couch maybe once a day, lay down, and look at us like he was asking, "Please?". Now he thinks he's a bunny and is constantly jumping up, growling, and nipping when we take him down. We are very...
