I haven't posted in forever, but Samson is getting more and more beautiful -- and bigger LOL. He's 62 lbs now so hopefully his weight is slowing down since he's nearly 2. He's come a long way since his puppy days (his horrible case of pneumonia!) Here are some current pics of him.
Samson was on Sentinel during the spring and summer, but it's not being manufactured anymore so we had to switch to Heartguard and a separate flea preventative.
Does he have allergies that you are aware of? Pollen in our area is really bad right now. Samson started sneezing and had a bit of a running noes for a few weeks and he eventually ended up getting a skin yeast infection. I didn't take him in for a few days because it was such a small area but...
100 stitches!?!?! OMG, maybe Samson has more than three!!! LOL. Samson went to the vet on Saturday, and OF COURSE when I woke up Saturday morning the debris on his cornea was on the outside of his eye, so it looked MUCH better! Anyways, the vet said that his eye is healing exactly as it...
Samson has been eating raw since he was 3 months old. I only feed indoors, I feed on a towel. For the first few weeks he would move whatever he was eating to his bed, but I just continued moving it back to the towel. Now he will only eat on the towel, even when feeding an entire chicken, no...
BabyDuke - it looks like he has 3 or 4 stitches (maybe?), his eye closes about 1/2 way or so he can still open it, just not well. He's wearing the cone when I put drop in and the inflatable collar all others times (including at night in his kennel). He's not able to mess with his eye with the...
Thanks guys. I called the eye specialist and they are going to see him Saturday morning. I described the eye and she said that it sounds like he's getting a build up of mucous in his eye because he can't blink as much. She said he may get it out before tomorrow but by no means should I touch...
He seems better this morning - he let me clean the area and put drops in like normal. I do notice that he has a lot of "sleep" (gunky stuff) covering the inside eye area. His other eye has also been gunky but getting it out hasn't been a problem, because I'm not afraid to injure it!
Samson had surgery last week Friday to repair a bad corneal ulcer on his left eye. He was doing really well up until now, I tried cleaning the area tonight/put drops in and he cried when I tried touching the area. Every time I even get remotely near the area he jerks away. So I want to think...
Here's Samson in the inflatable collar - kinda looks like he's on his way to a pool party. He doesn't mess with his eye when he has this on, and it allows him to sleep unlike the cone.
Samson went on his first post op walk today - and he was so happy to get out of the house! He's doing pretty good and the swelling around his eye has gone down. He goes back to the eye doctor on May 3rd to get the stitches out.
He's doing good today, giving meds, pain killer, drops or cleaning the area what seems like every 10 minutes. :) he does have a comfy cone but won't lay down with it on so unless we're putting drops in we switched to an inflatable collar - and it prevents him from messing with his eye.
Praying for Aubrey's fast recovery - praying for the surgeons steady hands. Praying that when all is said and done Aubrey recovers quickly! Sending hugs your way, I know what you must be feeling like.
