Hi Bully friends...I used to be quite active on this site & then have had 4 human kids in the last 6.5 years.
I am finding myself in need of all of your expertise. We have a 9 year old female bully who has had a ton of skin issues, and I've been feeding her Zignature kangaroo as a rec from a...
I know there are a few of your here feeding it. What mix are you using for allergies?
We have been feeding Keen (turkey, oats, and potatoes) since summer bc it's supposed to be the best for urinary issues. We think we have those under control w supplements, so we are going to try switching...
We use a shampoo with fatty acids (Omega 3's & 6's) called "HyLyt" from the vet. I believe Amazon has it. It definitely helps her skin.
There are also some Omega 3's capsules called Snip Tips be Free Form that the end twists off of & they don't make a mess. We like these.
I need Penny to drink more water. She has another UTI & she doesn't drink much at all unless we are playing outside and she has a water bowl out there. We give her ice cubes. She's also on dehydrated food, so I am adding extra water to that to try to increase her water intake.
When she was a...
Ok, so second UA came back ok for kidney issues. She was concentrating her urine which the vet was concerned about. When we talked she said she thought we were dealing w a bladder issue. However, the UA showed higher pH, trace blood & some struvites. She started us back on DL-Methionine and...
Ok, so the vet redid bloodwork when we were there to recheck some levels that were slightly elevated in June. She wanted to see if they were ok to start the apoquel. She called today & my husband is going to pick it up after work. She is concerned because her creatitine (sp?) levels were on the...
Thanks for the posts everyone!!! I'm encouraged. I'm hoping she gives us the Apoquel today! Will follow up after her appt. It's at 3:45 this afternoon.
Thanks for the input so far on the apoquel. Our vet did mention that since it's fairly new for allergy use that the supply is sometimes an issue? I'm glad to hear there are others using it successfully.
& I'm ready to pull mine out! haha
I don't know if anyone remembers our story...issues w chronic UTI in last year & a half. Vet put her on Hills c/d in Feb as a last effort. No more UTI's but bad allergy issues this spring. Went to new vet in June who agreed to help w food transition. We...
We are in w the new vet on Friday. I'm excited to see what she says. One of my husband's employees goes there & said one of the first things she will ask is "What kind of food is she on?" So, I'm hopeful she will be supportive of us transitioning her & willing to work w us to find the right...
Thanks everyone for all of your support & help! I almost cried reading your responses. I feel like I have some confidence in my decision to switch her food now. However, I'll feel terrible if she ends up w another UTI & we have to go back to the vet w our tails between our legs.
Hi friends,
It's been awhile since I've posted on here....and each time it's with problems!
Quick back story - Penny had recurrent UTI's since last Jan (2014). We switched vets last May. She's been on antibiotic after antibiotic. Our vet tried some supplements (DL Methionine) to not mess...
