you're misunderstanding ---- i'm not yelling AT him - i may for example, be yelling at one of the other dogs to stop barking .....
but even if i was yelling at him - how many dogs will lunge and try to bite when they're being yelled at??? hit maybe, but not just being yelled at...... Not many...

I'd be willing to bet that the "latching on" is the legacy of what the eb was originally bred for - i.e. bull-baiting. They latch onto the bulls nose and DO NOT let go. This drive remains in some bloodlines. Be proud you've got one with this historic behaviour. My neutered male does it. So...

yeh, i don't think EB's would have the stamina to really fight a human - but you never know - stranger things have happened.
"Bulldogs" IS a general term - lots of different kinds of bulldogs. I have an American who is livestock and cat aggressive but ok with other dogs and people.
My otis just LOVES to swim - as long as it's all about chasing a ball. I wouldn't put him in the middle of a lake and expect him to make it to shore, but we play in a river space that's about 3 feet deep and not very wide so he's safe.
