    Help Needed! Just adopted/rescued

first thing - work on his weight. He's probably food -aggressive because he's learned to really use that for his "comfort". If you can afford it - get a weight-loss food from your vet. The ones from the grocery stores are "weight management" - i.e. worthless but better than nothing. We got...

    URGENT!!! Aggression HELP

I've been listening to the whole Jethro Tull album on my blackberry when i take the dogs out for a walk. Shows you how old i am!! Yes - this is territorial aggression. My big (but not fat) bully would bite me when i would try to get him off my bed OR when i would try to put him outside. I...

    new dog attacks me! UPDATE

Well, i did some searching on the internet and i experimented with something. It's not about yelling. It's about loud noises. I decided to desensitize him to it. So i got a treat from the frig. I saw he was on my bed and i slammed my hand on the wall as hard as i could... and he came at...

    new dog attacks me!

again, my point is being missed. If i yelled to my husband - "turn on the A/C - i'm frigging hot!"" - he would come at me. this is not the best forum for this issue.......i'll try a forum that deals with aggression specifically

    new dog attacks me!

you're misunderstanding ---- i'm not yelling AT him - i may for example, be yelling at one of the other dogs to stop barking ..... but even if i was yelling at him - how many dogs will lunge and try to bite when they're being yelled at??? hit maybe, but not just being yelled at...... Not many...

    new dog attacks me!

OP here. The attacks are mostly lunging and are not primarily about biting but he does bite too.

    new dog attacks me!

Last month i adopted a 6 year old, 65 pound purebred EB. He was given up due to some aggressive behavior - uh....................yeh.. i get it now. I love this jumbo boy and will keep him. \ Please refer me to threads on this behavior. ****when either of us jump up off the couch or just...

    Help...Aggressive

I'd be willing to bet that the "latching on" is the legacy of what the eb was originally bred for - i.e. bull-baiting. They latch onto the bulls nose and DO NOT let go. This drive remains in some bloodlines. Be proud you've got one with this historic behaviour. My neutered male does it. So...

    olde english v english bull

i need to weigh him but i'm betting 60/65/70 - no, not even close to 100................. the guy said he paid 2800!! I felt like saying , "sucker!"............ OK, i'll do another thread with his pics. He's to be neutered in a week. But thanks guys, yes i guess he's just a BIG eb.

    olde english v english bull

Now - i adopted a large English Bulldog that is five years of age. Have AKC paperwork and lineage. He was given up due to some aggressive behavior and the fear he might injure a toddler. But, BOY is he large! The AKC does not recognize the Olde English, I know. So he must be an English...

    possessiveness in new adoptee

I like these ideas - about pinning her AND the one about giving her direct eye contact between her and the other dog. She's dependent enough and wanting to please enough that these might work. The fights between the two dogs are minor and end without any intervention but there are tiny wounds...

    possessiveness in new adoptee

I posted a couple weeks ago about a breeder going out of business in phx and selling his stock very cheap. I adopted a small brindle/white female - to be spayed in october. Anyway, she's a great dog but she follows me everywhere!! In the kitchen - if i just turn around and walk 4 steps, she's...

5 year old killed by a bulldog!

yeh, i don't think EB's would have the stamina to really fight a human - but you never know - stranger things have happened. "Bulldogs" IS a general term - lots of different kinds of bulldogs. I have an American who is livestock and cat aggressive but ok with other dogs and people.

    Pools and trampolines and swimming?

My otis just LOVES to swim - as long as it's all about chasing a ball. I wouldn't put him in the middle of a lake and expect him to make it to shore, but we play in a river space that's about 3 feet deep and not very wide so he's safe. My mini needs a life jacket......... whoever invented...
