Yeah every dog is different I think with how they do. But it is quite a common protein allergy among dogs. In my opinion after transitioning Lilly, chicken should be avoided as a staple for starting new dogs out on raw because of this reason.
I just posted something very similar on another thread but being that I'm online right now I'll say it again...
My tip for anyone starting raw...Skip chicken for now.
Nothing against chicken, but there is a little fact none of these guys mention. And you know what, probably because they had...
Just some more information for you but my dog didn't do well with chicken at all. So if that's your dogs staple then cut it out. She did fine on chicken for about 4 days, and then she had mud butt for a few days. I switched to pork now as her staple and it's been night and day difference...
Yeah, maybe they will be cleaner them my dog but I think any dog gnawing on a big bone is going want to maneuver it around to their liking. I personally started with chicken because its the cheapest, and still very healthy for the dog. Unfortunately, Lilly has issues with poultry. So, I...
I also live in a small apartment, and totally understand why you want to grind lol. I think people underestimate how important this little factor can be.
A lot of people will tell you not to because the bone chewing is good for their teeth and what not....But, the thing is it may not be a...
Lol, no I don't want to just grind them up and feed. I want to grind up all the organs I end up getting into one big slop basically, and then dehydrate it into some kind of cookie shape. I usually feed less then an ounce a day, and I still run into problems some how. I don't get it....But...
Being new to raw I can tell you that it all depends on your animal. My dog Lilly seems to have a poultry intolerance, as well as beef. I'm not sure what it is about those proteins but she just can't process them. I was kind of bummed about the chicken as it's the most cost effective option for...
Well the title says its all. Lilly eats it all with the gusto but whenever there are organs her crap is so disgustingly watery, and to me that's not a good thing. I read online that it's normal if they're eating organs for the poo to be a little runny, but it's just gross and I don't think any...
Sorry again for the delay lol
After doing some more research I did decide to NOT grind the meat. I also had to finally rule chicken out of her diet. I came to the conclusion she has an intolerance for it. I wouldn't say allergic, but her body just doesn't do well with it. Runny stools being...
Sorry for the huge gap from my last post. Got a new job, new apartment, new computer, and things have been busy for me which is good. But the last time I spoke to all of you Lilly was on raw. I eventually had to go back to high grade kibble when I lost my one job, but now that I can afford it...
I have no idea lol
That's why I was kind of intrigued to look into it a little more. But from what I gathered its just the parasites that people worry about.
I use yogurt a few times a week, but that hasn't done anything to rid her of the yeast. As for pre-biotics, the research I have done...
I guess the fat content depends on the cut. What I have been getting has been pretty good in terms of fat content. The spareribs, and tenderloin seems to be good candidates. If there is any kind of excess fat I just remove it. What kind of cuts have you been getting?
From what I gathered...
Sorry it's been so long guys, been super busy lately!!
But, Lilly is still on her raw diet and doing well. Last time I spoke to you guys Lilly was experimenting with pork. I gave her pork neck, but that didn't last long because of the hardness of the bone. I instead started using pork spare...
