Thor has arthritis in all 4 elbows (confirmed via xray) - our vet told us Metacam (another anti-inflammatory, generic is meloxidyl) is safer than Rimadyl long term so he has that at the moment. He also gets Dasuquin chews and salmon oil. He goes to an orthopedic specialist in a few weeks though...
Thanks for the replies...when he was on Earthborn licking his paws they weren't red yet. It wasn't until the Fromm that his paws turned bright red :( I've tossed the idea around with my husband about slow switching him back to the Great Plains, but I do want to keep the allergy test in the back...
Hi all,
We are finally considering getting an allergy test for Thor. Some background:
He came to us on Eukanuba (ugh), with a case of Giardia. While that was clearing up we did a slow switch to Earthborn Meadowfeast. He was mostly OK except for he'd lick his paws a lot. Based on some of the...
Thank you all for your replies and advice. I called the vet's office this morning and asked for a doctor callback about assessing his situation and getting him some prescriptions. I'm pretty mad at myself that i didn't just make him go full steam ahead with diagnostics when I had him at the...
This is way over my head. Thor has always been a mild paw-biter, and i suspect he has a chicken allergy because this greatly intensifies whenever he eats chicken or chicken based foods (which is why we don't feed them!). About a month ago I switched him from Earthborn meadowfeast to Fromm Beef...
We've tried both the Earthborn Great Plains and Meadowfeast. Great Plains he did fine on, Meadowfeast he'd do OK until we got to the bottom of the bag where it was sorta greasy - and he'd get a tummy upset. He's on Fromm Beef Frittata atm and his coat is the best it's ever been, but no food ever...
Hi guys!
Thor got snipped yesterday afternoon and he's mostly his normal self, but he HATES HIS CONE. It also keeps getting gunky on the inside even though I keep wiping it off :cursing:
How long did you guys keep the cone on your boys? Or is there something besides the cone I should try? He...
LMAO @ Slimer.
Thor - Norse god of thunder and lightning, which is extra funny because he cries during thunderstorms. Poor baby :(
His nicknames include Gub, Bubby and Nicholas VonPoopenstein. :p
I totally agree with you on being safe...I'm the overcautious type and I tend to pick every option under the sun so I wanted to ask for opinions, haha. I tend to go overboard when it comes to the dog :ashamed:
So we're going to go ahead and get Thor fixed, since he's starting to mark, get territorial, etc.
The vet gave us a list of options for his procedure. I'm not sure on some of them how necessary they are.
There's an antibiotic shot, pre-anesthesia bloodwork (I think this is a definite but I'm...
