    Veterinarian Recommendations

I'm just West of Atlanta, Georgia, in Douglasville. I've seen several different vets over the years, some for specialty services. All have been exceptional with our bulldogs so I thought I'd add them to the recommendation page: Dr. Wayne Rush DeKalb Animal Hospital 4070 Lawrenceville Hwy...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Wow! This is fantastic information and very helpful. It supports a lot of the possible causes and treatments that have been mentioned by others and our current vet. Gumbo has had several staph infections over the past couple of years and they seem to clear up quickly on antibiotics, along...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

I'll update after his appointment and when we get the results of the culture and biopsy. I'll be especially interested to see if they determine it's a cyst or something else.

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

I hope they can help too. It's sort of a last resort as we've tried just about everything else. I do have chlorehexidine shampoo which I've had to use on Gumbo when he's had a staph infection in the past and have used that on his foot as well but it didn't seem to help. I'm still not...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Ordered some NuStock but haven't tried it yet. His foot "popped" and then dried up so it's ok now until the next time, usually once a week. I'm going to wait until he can be seen by the UGA vet so they can see what it looks like and does when it's inflamed. I'll have to check into the bag...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Went to our regular vet today and they agreed with referral to specialist at UGA vet hospital with recommendation for a culture and biopsy. Should be receiving a call from UGA to schedule in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed they can get to the bottom of it.

Help Needed! Has anyone ever used these wipes?

It is safe but you want to avoid the eye area so as not to get any in the eyes. I use them on our bully's facial folds and nose and they work really well.

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

That's my plan. We've been to five separate vets for this specific problem in hopes that one of them could offer something that would help. Three of them were "bulldog" vets. Like you, they mostly all chocked it up to allergies although we've previously had Gumbo allergy tested and all were...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Thanks for the additional tips. I'm going to try a few different things and see if it gives him any relief. He's feeling better now that it popped and relieved the pressure. The swelling is going down but have to keep it cleaned so no infection sets in. I'm hoping I can do some things to...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Me too! Thanks again for your help. Just ordered some more Betadine and some Manuka honey and Nu-Stock to try.

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

He's been on the Mitotane for his Cushing's for almost a year but the issues with his foot have been going on for almost six years now. I agree that may be contributing to why it keeps recurring faster lately though. I've started looking into a raw diet to see if that may help. There is a...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Hi Dolly's Owner, Thank you for the additional recommendations. I'd tried diluted Betadine soaks before but it was some time ago. However, I did not follow them up with any antibiotic ointments so I'll give that a try. I just ordered some foot medical bandage booties from Amazon that I'll try...

Help Needed! Recurring edema in paw

Hello all! I'm new to this forum but am reaching out in the hopes that someone may be able to provide some recommendations that may help. I apologize in advance for this long post. Our male EB, Gumbo, is turning 11 years old soon. He's generally always been in pretty good health and we've...
