Please tell me this is just a phase! Archie is a year & a half old and he's obviously still very much a puppy so I definitely still expect puppy behaviors, but this past week has been insane! We take him for a walk every morning for 30-40 minutes and he's generally very content after that for...
Day 3 of the bug bite fiasco and, while the swelling has all gone down, we've still got quite a bit of itching and discomfort going on. The prednisone shot seemed to have worn off around 4:30 yesterday so I gave Archie a prednisone pill as the vet had suggested. Can't say that helped a ton, but...
Prednisone shot for Archie & it's like a miracle cure! He is no longer rubbing at his face at all & he finally seems like he's able to rest comfortably. The vet gave me a bottle of prednisone pills to keep on hand for "when" this happens again. ;)
Well that was a fun night! Poor Archie couldn't settle all night. He would sleep for 20 minutes and then pace. This morning the swelling has definitely gone down but he is still frantically rubbing his face on everything. I'm calling the vet and taking him in today. Poor guy needs some relief. :(
Quick update on my Archie. We're not 100% out of the woods yet, but I'm hopeful that after a good night's sleep, he'll feel much better. The hives are gone and the swelling on his right eye seems a little better. I actually located the bite/sting and it's right under the corner of his left eye...
Thank you everyone! So far there's no issues with breathing & the hives are mostly gone. I'm going to give him one more Benadryl. He's just under 60lbs. and I was thinking I remembered 1mg per pound. Also, I have prednisone from my son that he never needed. It's still fine to use - how much...
My Archie woke up completely fine this morning. He went outside like normal and was laying in the living room for a bit and when he walked into our kitchen, my son said, "Aww, look at Archie! He's so sleepy he can't open his eyes!" Well, I wish that were the case but sadly, both eyes were...
First of all, if this isn't allowed, I apologize!
Our local area magazine is running a pet photo contest through Facebook and I entered my sweet Archie! The winner is chosen through Facebook likes. The contest runs through May 7th at noon est. The winner will be professionally photographed and...
So we are feeling hopeful about Archie this evening. The vet had us put a steroid ointment in his eye a few times today & now, other than some slight swelling, his eye is wide open & looks perfectly fine. It doesn't seem to be bothering him anymore. I can see his entire upper lid & all of his...
Well, my poor boy has entropion in the upper lid of his right eye. He had surgery in that eye for entropion but it was the lower lid. The vet told my husband that it's probably been happening slowly & then suddenly the upper lashes were rubbing & that's why he was so frantic. So, surgery...
Last night at around 10, Archie suddenly started frantically rubbing at his right eye. He was trying to use his paw, the carpet, the sofa, my husband's shirt, anything around him. We noticed immediately that his right eye was closed tight as well. We kept him from rubbing at it & tried to coax...
Feeding him later makes sense. He typically is fed around 5, but sometimes doesn't finish until 6 or 7. He sleeps in our bed & he jumps down around 3:30 ish in the morning & goes over to the bedroom door & hits it with his nose. When I take him downstairs he goes out & is super efficient. He's...
So since we've switched to Natures Logic food, Archie is doing so well. His poop has firmed up and he goes only twice a day, the problem is the time that he goes. The first time is late morning/early afternoon & that's not a problem. The second time is between 3:30 & 4 am every night, like...
