Thankfully my Bubba doesn't have it and I hope never will but..got a couple questions. My sis-in-law's 5-6 mo golden retriever puppy has just been diagnosed with it. She wants to know if it beneficial to have the surgery (she has heard conflicting stories) and how long can they live with it. Sorry to post about a golden but it could be my Bubba and I thought you guys might have some exp with this. Thanks!

My Meilyr has been diagnosed with it but no surgery. Doesn't bother him yet or cause pain so no surgery. About $5k surgery.

According to the Trupanion insurance website, EB's have a 75% chance of having hip dysplasia. bubbasapig so most of us are going to have to deal with it, unfortunately. I don't know that much about it but I do know that there are many things that can be done to help - medication / physical therapy / massage - before surgery is absolutely required. Thankfully so.
