Hi,

I am not familiar with terri cortril. What type is medication is it?

When Penny had her cherry eye our vet gave us a antibiotic eye ointment. He also gave us a steroid ointment after surgery to get rid of the redness/swelling. You can also do warm compresses like you are doing.

Are you planning to have it surgically repaired?

tyson Sounds like a precaution for infection and inflammation, but if that doesn't work, it may be that the eye socket is just not supporting the gand, which is common with Bulldogs. According to this site, Terra-Cortril Official FDA information, side effects and uses. , there is a warning for prolong use of that drug.

Our Bullie had a cherry eye, and we were initially able to get it back in with a warm compress. It started coming back more often though... I was able to massage it back in at first, but it became too persistent. We elected to have surgery, expanding the pocket and leaving the gland intact. It has been several months since the surgery, and no relapse. There was some swelling for weeks after the surgery, but it is looking good now. The eye specialist we took him to also noted about a %50 reduction in normal tear production in the cherry eye, even after the surgery, so we were worried about having to deal with dry eye, but our appointment last week showed full tear production.

My Beau currently has cherry eye and we were given an antibiotic ointment to put on his eye for a couple of weeks to see if it would decrease the swelling. It looked really rough and irritated for a week, but the swelling went down a little. We were diligent with the ointment application and nightly warm compresses. Alas, the ointment didn't really do anything other than prevent infection (yay!), but he'll need to have surgery.

Watch this video and see if you can't get it back into place. I've done this several times for Samson.

‪How to fix a cherry eye in a Bulldog‬‏ - YouTube

I also use a small amount of olive oil to lubricate it as it seems Samsons cherry eye always pops out when it's irritated.

I just tried this technique to get Finn's cherry eye "fixed" and it worked! Scared the heck out of me when i saw it on Finn's eye and i was nervous popping it back in but it did work. :)
