    Default Stenotic Nares/ colapsed nostrils

Ok I need some advice, a 6 week old puppy of mine has stenotic nares/ small nose holes.
I would like to talk to someone who's puppy/dog has had this surgery and if it takes a special vet (to make sure they look good after surgery)
We have surgery scheduled for Tuesday.
My vet is awesome but he is not so good with cosmetic surgeries like cherry eye and entropian so I am a little worried can he damage my puppy's looks by doing this surgery.
    Thanks!!

I understand that eye cosmetic procedures may be much different from widening nostrils... but I would be very hesitant to put my bullie in the hands of a vet with a bad track record.

Lex has very very small openings, not sure how he can breath half the time ... We are getting his fixed hopefully in June, we are fighting mange right now and our vet wants him to be mange free for about a month before he fixes his nose. We haven't gone into any detail yet on how he will do it not sure I really wanna know :/ but I do trust our vet 100% to do it right. I would talk to the vet and see how he plans on opening the nose up and if it will look natural after, I know I will be asking. and if u don't feel comfortable then find someone else. Lex is 15 months and the only thing we have to watch is he can't get very excited and hot don't like him Having to breath even harder than he has to, and when he gets hot it will swell alittle, and coolin off take alittle longer but it's no rush if he's fine for now, find a vet u can trust then have it done.

I took Chunk to a specialist for his Entropion surgery ... the specialist explained to me that it's usually better to wait until they are older with the Entropion type surgeries because their heads change shape so much during the first 1-2 years. Chunk had his surgery in March and he's going to be 3 on Friday so he said we were in a pretty good position as far as his facial structure not changing. I've heard from two different people who had bad Entropion experiences because they let their regular vet do it! It's worth (in my mind) the extra money for a specialist! So I would say ... go to a specialist for anything like that ... the nose stuff is pretty specialized too I would think! Even if it's just for a second opinion.

Thanks for your advice..... My vet has done all my dogs c-sections, leg surgeries and other stuff and no one is better then them. They just aren't good at eye surgeries.... which I get done at the specialist. But the nose? I don't believe they could screw up her looks.... but I am going to talk with someone that has had it done there.
They told me how its done today... they actually cut a triangle out of the nose holes to make them larger.....
My biggest fear is she is only 6 weeks old.... there is no option... it must get done as she has a problem breathing. I hate putting such little pups (and any of my dogs) on the operating table.....

My vet does it with lazer and I dont think its that bad , but I am like you I would be hesitant to put a young pup down for any surgery.

6 weeks is scary... but it is scary to see her the way she is now... before the surgery too. She really struggles breathing, so we have no option, her chances of dieing from not getting the surgery are just as great as having surgery.
I will let you know how it goes
