Default Chunk of paw pad is gone!

I just discovered this last night! Part of Louieís paw pad is gone and there is a little flap hanging! Wtf!!! It must be somewhat recent but thereís no wound or injury and it doesnít hurt him. He hasnít been on hot pavement. His other pads are fine. How the hell does this happen?

He just cut it. Must of been playing and stepped on something. Use vet wraps and add bag balm if you have any or polysporin for a few days then air it out.

There are river rocks in my backyard but weíve lived here almost 2 years so Iíd be surprised if thatís what itís from. We did go to a farmers market last weekend. I guess he could have stepped on something. But thereís been no yelp or blood. So I guess whatever happened didnít cause him too much pain.

So I know paw pads donít grow back so is this foot going to be more sensitive with a piece missing?

My GS had that too. Needs to heal n it will form another thin coat on it. He was still running n jumping. EB don’t run like a GS or work like one. Make sure it’s clean n keep an eye on the licking.

Poor Louie! I've never seen that before - looks like he's shedding his skin. Hope he'll be fine soon!

You could put a wet tea bag on it(tannic acid) or use a zinc cream. Or maybe just check it-drawing attention to it may start him licking, which would be worse.
