Your antibiotic seems to be right, but If you wonā€™t see any improvement in one more week, discuss with vet change to another one. I presume they didnā€™t perform sensitivity test on his bacteria, so sometimes Staph is more aggressive strain which is not sensitive to certain antibiotic.

Staphylococci are secondary to underlying skin condition, every healthy dog and human has plenty of Staph on their skin, but only some get infection. Usual primay reasons for skin weakness against Staph is 1) allergies 2) Omega3 responsive skin condition.
She already gets bunch or antiallerdic medication, but it obviously doesnā€™t help much. I would concentrate on choosing the most expensive Fish oil you can afford for her. And not just any fish oil, look for the one that says on label ā€œwith high content of DHA and EPAā€. It is Omega 3 fatty acids.

My dog got several courses of antibiotics for his Staph and NOTHING helped unless he started to get every day special fish oil with high DHA and EPA content (unfortunately I can not recommend brand as I got it from South Africa and my experience with USA made fish oils was dicey). But I can promise you, 99% sure your dog has Omega 3 responsive skin condition. If you wonā€™t compensate it with fish oil, nothing will help. After improvement my dog went back to Staph in couple of weeks after stopping antibiotics. For now AB are a necessary evil, because her skin is really bad, but you have to compensate real reason for this.

Together with fish oil it is good to give her not not every day but may be 2 times a week human Vitamin A 8000 ME, Vitamin E 400 ME and smallest possible dose of Zync - May be quarter of a 8 mg tablet. All these components are crucial for skin (just look at your facial creams, all Vit A and E, Zync is used for acne treatment etc). And fish oil increases need in Vit E.

Donā€™t wash her too often. Her skin is already extremely damaged and washing, especially with antibiotics/antifungal shampoos just makes it more irritated. If I were you, I would absolutely follow Dollys Owner advice and change to shampoo with Chlorhexidine and Ketokonazol. But use shampoo a little bit later when she will improve a bit. For now, I wouldnā€™t wash her back at all and would buy in Walmart simple Neosporin ointment and apply it every second day to keep area moist and antibiotics in it will help a bit too. With infection so bad Coconut oil is too weak.

Antibiotics irritate stomach walls and because they kill gut bacteria, it makes their bowels even more upset, and they definitely feel more hungr. Now it is not a time for strict restrictions, may be introduce some small lunch for her in the middle of the day.

Whatever she eats, may be try to look in the direction of raw food or home cooking. I wish her speedy recovery!

Theoretically you must look at fish oils with addition to their name Omega3, High Omega etc. We have to trust the producers, because we cannot check it ourselves and have to rely on their claims, because even FDA doesnā€™t check it, they just check if it is not toxic or harmful.
Deep inside I think there is a natural limit how much Omega 3 can be in 1ml or 1 capsule if fish oil. To put it into perspective, my fish oil from South Africa claims content of EPA 75 mg and DHA 50 per millilitre of oil. This is not high at all, and you must understand that area around South African shores isnā€™t overfished like around Americas or, God save, Asia. It is 1000% fish oil there is very raw and natural, they come only from wild caught fish. So I wonder to myself, why the content is so low but it works amazingly well? My dog at around 50 pounds required 8 ml treatment dose in the beginning and 4 ml support dose. If you count it is just 600 mg EPA and 400 mg DHA for treatment dose and half less support dose.
Here many human fish oils claim to have amount of Omega3 as high as EPA 650 mg and DHA 450 per capsule, and capsule is usually 1 ml. I wonder how it can happen, but Iā€™m not a specialist in fish oil technology, may be they have technology to concentrate it...I hope it is not just empty claims. The amount they claim should be more than enough for a dog, just 1 capsule a day, but my experience was so-so, at some time I had a gap in South African oil supply and used local highest rated quality human grade fish oils, but after 2 weeks he started to lose fur.
So, the only thing I can tell you for sure that DOllys Owner recommendations above are very good (she is a professional in Pharmaceutical science, so I would take her recommendations 100%). In my experience the best result with locally available fish oils was with Nordic Naturals brand, Ultimate Omega, they claim their content EPA650/DHA450 per 1 capsule. And Dollyā€™s Owner recommended Nordic Naturals Omega 3 Pet, which is the same producer...And even costs less, I would give this oil first try! It is also in liquid form which is better because you avoid unnecessary gelatine capsules. 1 bottle is enough for 1 month, so it wonā€™t break a bank. For the beginning of therapy I would give even 2 teaspoons a day, may for the first 4-6 weeks and then reduce to recommended 1 teaspoon per day. If you baby will turn her little nose away from fish oil smell, just be patient, they usually get used to it quick.
Good luck!

Itā€™s my pleasure! Hope your baby gets well soon. Btw, Helene Helsonwheels gave you great advice - if youā€™re Costco or Sams member, they have better prices in their chemists for certain things, for veterinary meds too. You can save couple of bucks on human or dog meds, just do a comparison.

Because we have had such great luck with the Zesty Paws Cranberry Bladder Bites for the UTI I ordered some Zesty Paws Salmon Fish Oil Omega 3 for Dogs with Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil, the EPA and DHA content is not very high but I'll give it a try.

Unfortunately Bella has had several skin problems over the years but this one could be the worse so far, I canā€™t seem to neutralize it. The itching got so bad I had to put her back on the Benadryl yesterday.

If I can find these items I will pick them up and start using them today;
Zyrtec to use instead of the Benadryl
NuStock for her bare skin
Fermented sauerkraut for her diet

To recap Bella is currently taking the following daily;
2 x 1 cup of Fromm Mature Adult kibble, I think lā€™ll change her back to the Fromm lamb and lentil and maybe combine it with some raw food.
2 x 1/8 green tripe paddy
3 x 25mg Benadryl
2 x 1000mg of salmon oil with the low EPA and DHA
2 x 437.5 Clavulin antibiotic
2 x 1 Zesty Paws Cranberry Bladder Bites

Plus I am spraying her with a mixture of 25% hydrogen peroxide, 25% ACV and 50% water.

This could be an allergic issue with the food... you are feeding chicken , two types of rice.... try one of the non-chicken and avoid grains. Give the pork and peas a shot until you decide to go raw.

My boy was allergic to both these ingredients.. he would always vomit and scratch, after a few months we did a blood panel test and the results were chicken and rice sensitivity... at the time we were feeding chicken and rice kibble as well as bland diet which was chicken and rice.... once we removed both those items, he was fine... all issues cleared up

Well that didnā€™t work out very well; Un Stock and Zyrtec appear to be available in the USA not Canada. I couldnā€™t find fermented sauerkraut. We are going to visit friends in Vermont tomorrow so I will pick these items up while I am in the USA. I did pick up a bag of Fromm lamb and lentil kibble and started mixing it with the Mature Adult for her supper last night. When I purchased the lamb and lentil I quickly remembered why I changed to the Fromm Mature Adult, it is pricey C$120 tax in.

I admit I didnā€™t read the ingredients on the Fromm Mature Adult kibble until I looked at the bag the other day. I found the lamb and lentil pricey so I asked at Global Pet Foods what other Fromm type of kibble was popular and they suggested the Mature Adult because it was half the price and she is 10 years old so I started feeding it to her. She looked good when she was on the lamb and lentil, I believe I now know why. Fingers crossed, I hope this change in kibble helps.

I ordered NuStock online and you can also order Zyrtec in Canada. Itā€™s a prescription here. As you probably know, Canada is very strict when it comes to all meds coming in this country.

Btw, Why 25% hydrogen peroxide ?

Thank you for the link, interesting. The 25% hydrogen peroxide, 25% ACV and 50% water was recommended to help her skin issue. Iā€™ve been spraying her bare skin with it and it seems to be helping.
