Hello,

My dog Penelope has had cherry eye pop out in both eyes. My local Vet in Northern CA does not perform the surgery and has referred me to a specialist that wants over $3000. The Vet I took her to in Los Angeles, reccomended by her breeder, does the laser technique for only $250 an eye, however I can not find any info on the laser technique online. Has anyone used this method with success?

Thank you :)

$3000? Hell no!

Hang on someone will answer you as I’m not in the US. I had Nyala’s done but my vet just put one stitch. Perfect to this day....

Laser technique end result is identical to normal dissection...with less blood, trauma to the surrounding tissue. I also think that the surgery is profoundly quicker with laser...which is, IMO, very important with higher risk dogs.
Removal as opposed to tacking may result in chronic dry eye.

Laser removal for $250 per eye is a steal and absolutely worth investigating.
Also, tack/tucking have a high failure rate most often depending on how long(weeks, months, years) the cherry eye has been popped out.

My dogs did not have cherry eye, but two(or four eyes) had entropion surgery. Never had laser.

Not sure about the laser treatment, wish it was available when Tyson needed his eyes done. Tyson has had surgery twice on one eye and once on the other and we still have issues with his eyes. Cost a pretty penny so that $250 sounds really good. I believe it cost me some where close to $1000 for his eyes in total since the first attempt at it was done during his neuter. Either way, I wish you both the best and hope you give us an update if you do opt for Laser.
