So Geno had his toe amputated last Thursday. He had a tumor on it that got big quickly and changed every day. He did get cysts often, and I used a spray on them called rejuvaspray by holistic Animal company and it always worked. This time it was cancer. I chose not to have the tumor sent away for testing. Today was his first follow up and bandage change. The stitches looked good. The doctor was happy with how it was progressing. My concern is there is a bump on his next toe now. Not even on the same side of his amputated toe. Im worried that it's cancer but it could just be a regular cyst. Does anyone have a similar experience? 0816180844a.jpg0816181019.jpg

This growth went from what I thought was his usual cyst to this big tumor in less than 2 weeks. He is doing ok even with his cone on.

The new bump on his other toe I saw on Monday at the vet when they changed his bandage. It's on his second to last toe on the opposite side of the toe that was amputated. Im hoping it's a result of his bandage being on or a regular cyst. He goes again on Friday for another follow up/ bandage change.

Honestly, to me it looks like melanoma. If so, that's not good as it is aggressive and the mortality rate is high. On a younger dog, removal of the entire limb might be a better choice. This is all guesswork though and without the benefit of a biopsy the next course of action is hard to plan.
I hope I'm way off base with my "guess".
Poor little fella...that looks painful.

This is what the incision from the amputation looked like today. The stitches didn't take very well after all. They were just wrapped around a gross crust. The dr took them all off and they cleaned it really well and bandaged it again. He is on stronger antibiotics and pain medicine. I go back again on Monday.

Doesn’t look too bad... once all the dried blood is gone it will look better

So his bandage was off when I got home today. I think his sister, Cammie, did it for him as a favor she won't let him forget. Im debating about what to do. Here is the picture of it. I have a wound cleaner i think im going to use and bandage it the best i can. Here's today's photo, and one of his partner in crime. 20180825_233558.jpg20180825_232722.jpg20161013_175922.jpg

Of course it was the cat!!!

Definitely try to wrap it ... wound is still open and don’t want it getting infected
