Hi everyone,
I have been trying to figure out how to remedy and whatā€™s causing a couple of things. Lucy is 3 years old and after we had a snow her paw webbings had some raw irritations come up that Iā€™m still trying to remedy. I have done Epsom salt bath soaks for her paws and it helps a little bit has not full resolved the issue. I keep her paws towel dried anytime she gets them wet. Any suggestions?
Also one of her claws on her back left paw is turning black on one side and this is the only claw doing so. Anyone have any suggestions on what this could be?
Attached is a picture of the claw for reference C576A32C-6CE2-416C-813D-A1ABA406579E.jpeg

Some dogs who have white nails, as pups, as they get older a few nails can turn black. I would do a good exam of the base of the nail, all around, and make sure their is no infection, redness, soreness. In the photo, it looks healthy, but also can not see the base. The base looks fine and doesnā€™t seem to bother her.

Banks had a nail that turned half black as she aged... may just be nothing but have a very check.

As for the irritation... it could be from the salt used on the streets that you track in on shoes

We live in Alabama so we donā€™t have any salts used. How can I treat it or what should I do please?

What are you feeding her... brand and protein? Is it chicken and grain free? That last picture looks like a interdigital cyst

Is my stock a dog food and what particular flavors do you do you get?

Lynn can explain NuStock... she swears by it!

How long has she been on this food? She my be developing an allergy to it. Any other changes in home? Detergent, air freshener?

@Slacy517 NuStock comes in a large tube.It is not a food- it is a non prescription,"ointment" that has been around for many years(like me..).The cost is around $13.00(haven't bought it in awhile) Everyone says it smells bad(sulphur smell) Doesn't bother me,guess I am immune! You must squeeze the tube around to mix it up well. It never goes bad, if it dries up, you just add a little oil-mineral or baby,or olive. Most feed stores and horse supply have it. It is something to keep on hand. One tube will probably last a lifetime!!

You can continue with the epsom salt soaks, and put on after some neosporin and clotrimazole cream , or the NuStock if you have that.

Looks like the interdigital cist to me too.. Hank gets them from being in the moist grass and then I don't dry them :( He does fine in the dirt but often comes home with a start of one when we go to his luxury home w/grass! If I keep them wiped out (I use an essential oil mix) and or colloidal silver wipe downs, and they tend to go away fairly quickly. I know it can be food but for Hank, it's the moist grass, and I think HOPE he's outgrowing them.
