General Question What is this?

Hi everyone!
I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything like this? I think it could be yeast because he licks it & it smells like Fritos haha. It is starting to concern me though.

Is it just on the paw? Is it also on the nose? [MENTION=2894]2BullyMama[/MENTION] has a point. But usually hyperkrratosis is only paws n nose hard like bristles. No cure but need to trim it off. Also I have never heard of it having a bad smell. My 2 cents.

But you said it smells. Soak his paws in ACV to was off any smell or yeast. Dog's paws always smells so im glad you're smelling them no me! Lolll

More I look at it, the more I think it is hyper keratosis... as Helene stated -- no cure, just trim it off. The Fritos smell is yeast and you can do epsom soaks to help control that

Agree, it's most probably hyperkeratosis. It is most often hereditary condition, but also can be caused by zinc deficiency. Treatment is usually just trimming and using different softening oils, as if it is left untreated, skin becomes too thick and can crackle. And it is very sore (the same like heel cracks in people).
