Never give Proin

Not sure how talked about it is, but I would never again give Proin to a dog. It is used for urinary incontinence, but has horrible side effects. One alternative, estriol, is on back order, but available through compounding pharmacies.
Female dogs that have been spayed can develop estrogen deficient urinary incontinence when they get old. It will be more of an accident while sleeping versus dribbling, or accidents while awake.
