Thank you and yes he has mange. We are treating with antibotic, eye drops, probotics, fish oil, a good supplement. Also, we were given a number to a specialist for his eye. I am hoping that he is on the right path. This is our first ever bully and this has been quite challenging. Do you have any other suggestions as for treating the mange or making him more comfortable? We appreciate it very much.

So sorry you are battling this, glad you found another vet! Yes…other suggestions to look into and read about include: Aloe Vera, ACV (apple cider vinegar), Yogurt, Coconut or other kinds of Oil, Hydrogen Peroxide (careful of this one, from experience, it has caused a negative reaction to my boy and his sensitive skin) and Borax...

I would stick to the probiotics and fish oil that you are already administering :thumb3: and consider adding ACV to food/water to help his immune system recover from the inside (you can use topically, but it will sting if skin is raw or open, so best not to use until raw/redness is healed) and a blanket/towel washed in natural/sensitive skin detergent (or just w/white vinegar, no perfumes) for comfort. How's his diet??

Poor Boyd. You have come to the right place for advice and we will help you as much as we can. The first thing is to get him to a specialist for his eyes as soon as you possibly can. Has the swelling in his eyes gone down at all? Where in the US are you? Have you checked this site for recommended Bulldog vets? It really is vitally important to have someone who knows what they are doing with these dogs, as you have found out. I don't know much about mange but at the least I would try some coconut oil on him, it will not hurt and will maybe give him some relief. Hopefully someone who has more experience with it will be along to help you there.
Believe me, we all know how challenging bulldogs can be, we have all been there in one way or another!
Please keep in touch and let us know how he is doing (and you!).

Edited to add, just saw that Helene has given good advice to you.
Thank you very much. The swelling has gone fown some just started a steroid. Hopefully it will help. [emoji4]

20170112_165459.jpg Boyd is doing much better, he looks better, day by day. He went to the eye specialist and has dry eye very bad with alot of inflammation. We are giving him lots of eye lubricant , some medicated, some not. Mange is getting better slowly. Thank you all.

Such a sweet looking boy. I am so glad to hear he is getting better. My Monty has dry eye and has to have prescription drops twice a day forever! It is not his favourite thing needless to say!! It is just something you have to keep up with unfortunately.

Keep us informed and give him a big hug from me!

Yes he is doing much better slowly but surely. He is still on meds for the mange and are hoping for a clear scrape next week as the last one still showed active mites. I actually got to see those little things under a microscope. He has an appt with the eye specialist tomorrow about his bad eye. Thanks for the concern and all the helpful info that you all have given us.

I really hope the specialist can help with Boyd's eye. What did his eye look like before he had the surgery? Fingers crossed all goes well.

Please keep us posted on his eye

Good news.... Boyds eyes are producing tears again... tear test at 20...which is good in both eyes. He had infection, cyst on the back of the swelling and his tear duct was backed up and could not drain. The specialist was able to put two small slits to drain and get the cyst out. EYE LOOKS ALLMOST NORMAL.. the specialist thinks that it will heal 100%... 🐶😃 the buldge of the eye is allready gone. So we are hopeful...now to get the mange gone and we will be good to go. 😄😄😄😄 feeling very hopeful...none of this has seemed to bother Boyd, he has such a good spirit...

This all stemmed from cherry eye in both eyes that he had surgery on. After the surgery it seemed all hell broke loose with the mange and eye issue. Thank you for the well wishes and the specialist is awesome... 😄
