Hello Everyone - We are the proud owners of Betsy, 1 year old, white, deaf and gorgeous English Bulldog. We are considering tail amputation for Betsy as she has a tight screw tail, it doesn't lift properly when she 'goes' this means she ha had infections, despite us 'wiping' her whenever she has been. This isn't great for any of us!! Does anyone have any experience of this procedure, cost (UK) downtime etc etc. Thank you in advance..

Hi Besty --- welcome!

I had this done for my boy at the age of 8 months, for the same reason... tail was tight and growing back into his skin. We had a great experience and Lambeau did great on recovery. Cost was around $1,000 USD. I will tag a few UK memebrs and see if they have any insight

Not in UK but this is relatively expensive surgery if done by a competent surgeon...and IMO, it should be. We usually use a specialist. This IS spine surgery. Complete recovery in about 3 weeks. Limited activity. Six months for all hair to grow back. Your bully will eventually forgive you and life will be great!
