entropian(sp?) problems

i am considering adopting a 5 year old english bulldog that has entropian issues. he has apparently been heavily vetted, but this problem persists. any recomendations? the people that are caring for him have had some luck with natural feeding and keeping his eyes clean. is this an acceptable course of action?

I'm dealing with this exact problem! When we got Chunk (over the summer, he was just 2 years old), the vet noted his Entropion but his eyes were fine. They began to be very irritated and are now to the point that he is having surgery on Friday. It's actually a pretty common thing and from everything I've been told, worth the surgery. I was trying my hardest to avoid surgery because it scares me to put Chunk under ... but I've come to terms that he will feel a million times better. Imagine having an eyelash in your eye all the time ... except it's worse because it's multiple. You can also treat with ointments and eye drops ... but after many months of vet visits, a sore eye and chasing Chunk around the house to get his drops in, I made the decision for surgery. (After two vet opinions and he is going to an eye specialist for the surgery. However, there are many concerns of surgery that you need to keep in mind too. The surgeon needs to have much experience with both entropion and anesthesia in bullies.)
