Hi there, my dog Dunga started ti have some skin loss last year and I was told that it was a reaction from the dry food. I have changed his food brand but I still don't see any improvement. Here is how his coat looks like on both sides. Any idea what should I do to get his coat bavk to normal?

    Welcome to EBN!

This can be common in bulldogs.... it looks to be season flank alopecia. You can rub coconut oil on to help the fur grow back and also can give melatoin ... going to tag a member that has a pup with it so she can give more info

Harvey had something similar to a lower extent. His original color came back in few weeks time.

Maude had this. Her hair grew back completely on one side, still has a bald spot on the other side. She doesn't care. Yes, it is Seasonal Alopecia. A lot of bullies get this for some reason, the food has nothing to do with it.Try @2BullyMama suggestions.

Yes, Monty lost his coat like that last year. It grew back somewhat but not completely and he has lost what he got back again this year. I give him 3mg Melatonin (it didn't really help him I don't think but it doesn't hurt either) and I am putting NuStock on it. I try to get him in the sun every day, taking into account the heat here. Some dogs it grows back, some it doesn't. It is nothing to worry about though, just one of those things!

Seasonal alopecia, it is common in bullies. Doesn't hurt anything, but does look bad. BeBe got it once when she was 5 tears old and never got it again. It took almost a year for her hair to grow back and when it did, it grew in black, and has stayed black.

Can I ask did anyone notice anything new with their bullies before it got this bad? For example did you start to see dark spots under the fir and not think any thing or scratching anything of that sort or did it just get bad all at once?

It is slow to take over... Sometimes you can see it start but not much to stop it--- rub coconut oil on the area and let them sun barge a little each day

I noticed Monty's hair thinning and the skin turning dark underneath. No irritation, scratching or anything like that, it just happened. As I said, the jury is out for him with the melatonin, but who knows, it may have been a lot worse without it so I will continue to give it to him

@1Chumly has the nustock made much of a difference for Monty? I've only done one dose on each side and haven't noticed too much of a difference yet. I will say I was not at all prepared for the smell lol
