First time posting. I love to browse the site but a recent event has me curious. My 8 month old Male bulldog has been diagnosed with a prolapsed urethra. He has been referred to a specialist and has an appt Monday so that we can discuss surgery. I'm worried. How common is this.

Welcome to the site and sorry to hear about your pup. It's not that common, but does happen occasionally. Hopefully the surgeon who does the surgery has done several of these, so it will come out OK, plus you will need to have him neutered as well.

Thank you for the response. My vet made the calls to make sure this particular specialist was comfortable with the surgery. Getting him neutered was already in the works. He only has one testicle and it never dropped so we had already decided that was our best option. I'm so nervous. The specialist even mentioned getting it done on the same day since he will already be under. I don't want to see him in pain. :( now I wait until Monday morning.
