Hi all. This is my first post. I found this forum by go ogling the above thread title however the previous poster never followed up the post so I'm unsure of what to do.

Anyway milo is an English bulldog and old English bulldog cross. He was fine until the day of his first vaccinations at 9 weeks old. Since then he walks on his front tip toes and rolls over on his wrist. Pics to follow. Any advice on what to do would be very grateful.

I have been to the vets but she said she didn't have a clue

Not a great pic I admit but it does illustrate the problem. It is normally much more pronounced

porkchop, abbey, gucci and rocky,
does he seem to be dragging them? reason i ask is i had something similar happen to one of my dogs but it was his back legs.. he sort of drug his back legs.. almost like they were part paralyze or something.. hard to explain but he could stand up then when he walked it was like his back feet didn't more a fast as his front.. again you would have to see it to understand, but anyway,
it happened right after a cherry eye surgery.. when i picked him up from vet.. he acted still out of it so i took him home and put him to bed.. next morning i go to him and see him doing it.. i went thru many, many vets..different ones because i wasn't getting any answer's..
i ended up taking him to a specialist 2 hours away.. he was seen by a neurologist and couple other vets... they told me nothing could be done for him and surgery was out of question because surgery (they thought it was a back problem) has never been successful and sometimes made it worse, paralyzed them.. i cried and said no.. he's only 5 months old... there has to be something we can do.. they said nothing..
i take him home and called my breeder.. then took him back(temporarily) i wasn't giving up on him... they got him walking again...
what they did was put him on a low dose of steroids .. it was a pill form.. after a few months we slowly weaned him off but it started again..
we put him back on for a year then took him off again gradually.. this time it worked.. never had the problem again..
when he was 6 years old we had to take him back to that hospital... they looked at his record and asked me what i did to get him walking., ( the records of course had it in there im guessing ) i told them it wasn't what i did.. it was what a great breeder did for me.. lol..

i didn't tell you this to scare you.. and there may not even be anything the same.. my point was don't give up when one vet tells you something.. i hope it works out and he gets better.. good luck and welcome to this site.. i love it and we like pictures... ok.. i confess i like pictures.. ha ha..

If your vet said she doesn't have a clue, and left it at that, you need a NEW vet! Milo needs to have bloodwork done, and have thyroid/parathyroid bloodwork. He also should have x rays done of the bone. You need to get an appointment asap. I don't know how old he is now,but I would not wait any longer. It could even be a tendon problem. I agree with Lyn Manydogs you need another vet to go over Milo and check him out completely for a vet to just say they have ni idea is not acceptable

Thank you so much for the replies. The initial thread I found said it was tendon problems. The BonE growing faster than the tendons. I've got him on some high quality puppy food now hoping that is the reason and there was a nutrient imbalance in the initial food. Darn strange how it happened the day of his jabs though.

I'm far from impressed with the vet. I was in there 5 mins to be told she didn't have a clue and to make an appointment for 3 days time to see if there's any appointment. 28 pounds please. Easy money if you can get it.

I've found this article and it seems to fit the bill so have been following its ad ice. Fingers crossed

I would still find another vet, and have Milo checked to make sure you are doing the right thing. After the growing period, it may be too late.

Neilini There are a few other causes of this condition. I hope you have chosen the correct diagnoses for Milo. I had a young horse with this condition, and the tendons actually had to be cut. Best of luck=note: it could also be a parathyroid related condition.
