It started about 2 days ago.
A little cough then he was fine.
I told my husband to keep a close eye on him so he could see it for himself.
He said I was paranoid.
Well yesterday he would cough
Then act like he got something up but gag and dry heave I guess
Then it would pass
So I guess a nasty cough like a human would have.

His nose is really runny. Like down to his chin.
It is clear but it did show signs of green yesterday.

We have an appointment on Saturday.
They said they were going to check him for kennel cough.
I guess He hasn't had that shot yet? I don't know what age they get it.

I feel so bad for him.
He was asleep on us yesterday when we were watching a movie and he woke up violently and started the whole cough sequence of coughing/gagging and wheezing because he wouldn't catch his breath. :(

He's only 6 months old. I'm on my lunch at home right now and the husband will be home in 3 hours.
I've left the heat on so he doesn't get cold. And water in his play pen.

Any suggestions to sooth his throat?? Until saturday( which hopefully they have an opening sometime tomorrow)

Anyone with experience with there babies??
Vet is charging 39 for the exam for it. Hopefully there will be an answer and some medicine for him.
Eating playing & popping is all normal.
Just his cough scares me!!

If the nasal discharge has yellow or green, that is infection and he'll need antibiotic. Benedryl might help clear any congestion.... 1 mg per pound 2x a day. Also try hot shower... steam will help or if you have a vaporizer, but that near him when he is sleeping

It sounds like something upper respiratory being that young. If it gets any worse I'd take him into the vet asap, these things can go south quickly.

I did give him benedryl yesterday.
Going to have my husband give him some when he gets home.

I get off @ 7 so I'll have him in the bathroom when I get home and start a shower.

Vet on Halloween.
Or possibly tomorrow. Just trying to make him as comfy as possible.

He did very well.
I left yesterday to go back to work around noon. Husband got home after that. He said there was no coughing or anything.
When I got home I still put him in the bathroom with the steam.
He slept all night and is fine this morning.

No coughing no excess nose running.
He seems perfectly fine.

So I'm contemplating if I should take him to the vet or not

Hopefully it isn't something where it comes out and then hides for a few days & is worse once it shows back up. :/

Thank you for checking up on him :)

I would still take him in.... explain it all and make sure there isn't something building

I will do that :)

The receptionist at the vet loves him
She called me three times yesterday trying to get me in sooner.
I took the day off today so I'll call when they open and see if they have an opening still.

I initially called to see if she could give me any advice or home remedy but they told me they can't give medical advice without seeing him.

I've made him herbal tea just in case his throat was hurting. So he's had a little of that.
We will see how he is doing once he wakes up.
We get up at 3:30 am everyday for work
So he wakes up for 20 minutes or so to potty etc then he snoozes for a few more hours.
He's laying right on me snoring!

Good news
Get to go in at 2 :)

He expelled from his nose and a thing of snot came out like a little kid does when they are sick. Sorry graphic I know. Never seen an animal do that.
So I cleaned him and and then he sneezed and I managed to capture a picture of how his nose looks so I can show them.

Hi how did the vet visit go? My little one is having the same issues. I am hoping that it's is just allergies or a little cold. I'm about to try benedryl like 2BullyMama suggested. I hope it all went well.

michaelsbroly Anytime a discharge from the nose is anything but clear, you need to see the vet. It could be an allergy, but don't take the chance.
