    Unhappy Jumping off sofas???

Cupcake had hurt her leg a few weeks ago when she jumped off the sofa, I know she shouldn't, but sometimes when she gets hyper she'll do what I've come to call the puppy 500 and there is no stopping her. Anyway, the doctor gave her an anti-inflammatory and bed rest orders, and after about two days she was better. She just did this again this past weekend and I don't know how to keep her from jumping off the sofas. Has anyone had this happen to their bullies, know a solution, or if it could be something more serious?

    Thank y'all in advance!

The only way that I've seen them stop doing that is to keep them off the furniture permanently and even that doesn't work so well. I hope she gets better soon, I know what kind of a pain that can be.

I know what you mean, my bully bounds on and off the sofas when he gets overexcited especially if we have visitors, I use a spray bottle filled with water, when he gets overexcited I give him a spray and tell him no, I find it works.

i have the same issue with Harvey and I cringe that one of these days, he'll lose his footing and land awkwardly. There is no fear, he jumps on and off as if he was the man of steel.

Taco will jump off anything if he finds it necessary. Me and him, we differ on what's necessary.

Lola also is on and off the couch and our bed regularly. It helps to have carpet so the feets dont slip, but that's the best we can do here.

What about doggie steps? We have two of these. Elmo does not get on the furniture, he just never has wanted to, but several of my other dogs do and they use the doggie steps to go up and down.

Great idea Susan! Do you think he would use steps?

    My whole heart, Tyson.

we use dog steps for our dogs , we figured a lot of dogs now a day have enough issues with hip displasia and other leg issues , Our Tilly had elbow surgery part of the bulldog breed , Diva is 11 now and slowed right down leg wise
-005-jpg-002-jpg-003-jpg-004-jpg We get ours on Amazon.ca , I am sure .com will also carry them . We have the one i am showing for the couch and a 4 step one for these new very high beds we all seem to own now , they are very reasonable price wise considering leg issues and vet bills . Now we made sure that the steps were slip proof , had washable covers and wide depth wise and length wise steps with no slip steps , we also made sure of what weight they would carry on them as the dog ages like Me it seems the weight goes on lol
    hope this helps
YOU MIGHT BE A BULLDOG IF...

...everyone else in a room with you is pinching their noses
...you snore like a chain saw.
...it takes too much energy to beg
...your snore is louder than your bark
...you have never seen your tail...what is a tail anyways?
...you're the loudest snorer in the house.

Our Bentley does the Peter Pan frequently. We too use doggie steps for the couch and our cars. I am not suppose to lift because of my back issues.

this always worries me when mine do it only because my first bulldog (porkchop) jumped off a step that was only 2 feet at the most and hurt her leg.. she was 5 months old.. my vet said she hurt (broke) it in the joint and could not do surgery. they wanted to amputate her leg.. i took her out of town to a specialist and they did the surgery.. cost me close to 2500.00 but she was and still is fine.. shes is going on 8 years old now.. she has just started walking with a limp now and vet (specialist vet) told me as she got older that she would probably get arthritis in it.. so this is why i am paranoid about them jumping off anything.. i know that step wasn't very high at all.. i guess she just landed the wrong way or something.. i think when they are puppies and still growing their legs are more fragile.. be careful.. hope shes ok..
