Default Moderate to severe allergies my 2 year bully need some advice please

My bully is 2 years old and yesterday we noticed signs of itching and hives. It has been progressively getting worse. We have been accustomed to these reactions and usually treat her with Benadryl 25mg tabs which usually clear it up.

We took her to a pet hospital today, and they ended up prescriber her chlorpheniramine 4mg .. 2 tablets every 12 hours as needed. I am going to start it tomorrow but her reaction symptoms are worryingn me as they are not improving. The vet has given her Medrol injections in the past which clears up the hives and itchiness, but today she said she would not give it to her because of possible side effects. We go to a regular banfield hospital but I have an appointment with a bully specialist in 2 weeks.

Any advice as to what I should look out for or any other treatments to help my baby feel better? I've attached some pics so you can see some signs of her reaction. Thanks so much for any help! Can't wait to clear this up once and for all!

Looks like contact reaction to maybe something in the yard.... when it happened before was it around the same time or was she in a similar place?

My girl had bad environmental allergies and what I did to help lessen reactions (not elminate, but lessen) after each outing in the spring/summer and fall... I would wipe her with a cool wash cloth (paws, face and belly). Again, it does not stop the reactions, but it sure does lessen them

Great advice ^^^^^ Also, what are you currently feeding her?

    My whole heart, Tyson.

Thank you! This is her 4th or 5th time with this "moderate to severe" reaction. It does seem to be whenever we bring her from outside, and when I check pollen levels they seem to be extremely high on the worst of her days. We live in Florida so the pollen can be bad. We may choose to go with allergy testing to help narrow down what the cause could be.

So her spots on her stomach went away from last night to today around 6PM. At 6pm, I left for about 2 hours, came back, and little red tiny spots are coming back again. We recently changed laundry detergent, which the blankets she was laying on were washed with. I am thinking this could be a cause as well. It is very difficult to pinpoint what is causing this. -image1-jpg-image2-jpg-image3-jpg-image4-jpg

I have attached some photos so you can see what it looks like when she starts itching. She breaks her skin open because she itches so much. We usually wipe them down with wet towel, like you said, and sometimes apply antibiotic spray to reduce chance of infection.

Did you bully every break the skin open as mine does? Thanks for all your input! It is truly appreciated!!

Hey there. I am feeding her Royal Canine Hydrolyzed Protein, it is through a prescription at the vet. I spoke with her new vet, who has 20+ years of experience with bullies, and she recommended an all natural diet that she was going to give me more detail when she has her appointment.

We have read so much about grain free and food allergies with bullies, but we have switched foods about 4 times. She is doing the best with this food that she is currently on, although she has been on it for about 2 months now.

Yes, she would do that all the time especially around her face, I think it was becasue that is where she could reach. Get a free/clear detergent and you can also give Benedryl 1 mg per pound up to 3 x a day to help with the itch too
