Yesterday I heard some disturbing news...

One of my friends said her neighbors bulldog died of heat stroke over the weekend. It was 107 here w/the heat index… they were mowing the lawn and let their bully stay outside all afternoon. My friend that works at animal control told me of two bullies that were left outside yesterday, one was sleeping under a car for shade.

I know that most of us on here KNOW of the dangers w/bulldogs and heat. I just wanted to repost a great article by Jill sheshistory

PLEASE be very careful to monitor your bulldog in this dangerously hot & humid weather that we are having right now!!!

Yep it is nasty here as well. Harlea only goes out to do her business and then it is right back inside. Heck I have even insulated the roof of my patio and setup air conditioners for the rabbits to keep them as comfortable as possible.

Amen. They can over-heat so easily and so quickly. I've seen it first hand, and its the scariest thing ever. Thanks for the reminder - please please limit any time outside.

You can never remind people too much about the dangers of heat with bulldogs! They are so incredibly sensitive to heat and do not know their limits, so it is up to us to protect them.

I know! My Usko has the most annoying habbit of laying in the hottest place in our yard, the steps... Even when it's not really warm, but the sun is shining the place gets really hot without the wind....Voitto has the sence to lay in the shade.

So very sad to lose another bully to heat. I've known of losing them
in lower temps but with high humidity, they're so sensitive! If it's
hot or even 75* but high humidity, safest bet is inside and out only
for potty breaks.

Cami & I send good bully love to all here :)

Thank you Tracey! Great reminder..... it only takes a few minutes for something tragic to happen with these special babies

You cannot overemphasize this. These bullies go outside in 100 degree heat and will stay out if you don't escort them back in.

:goodpost: This is 100% accurate and very important to remember. Dogs are not like us. They will stay out there regardless if they feel hot or not. This is why we lose so many to overheating. Just bc they are outside and "seem" okay - does not mean anything. They do not know their own bodies, so its up to us as parents to limit their time, and take them in. Even if it means pushing them inside (like it does for me at times) Tyson loves being outside, but at a certain point, its a wrap and I have to haul him into the house.

Thanks for posting this important reminder. We all know the dangers of this, but it never hurts to be reminded again, and for new bully owners who may not have the experience of how sensitive these special babies can be. Thank you for sharing.

A very experienced bully Mom almost lost her bully to heatstroke Sunday
INSIDE her AC'ed home! As does my duplex now, AC set at 70* but as the
day warms up, temp inside rises too, 78* this week. Granted, her bully is
12 but could happen to any bully. Fans were blowing on him at the time it
happened, she saw the signs & most fortunately, had IV fluids on hand and
after, Pedialyte or Profil Water, is same & less expensive, unflavored. He still
can't stand on his hind legs but is eating, drinking & going potty (on pads).

Reminded me to stock on Profil Water & get a couple box fans (mine are in
storage) and look Cami over good even inside when temp climbs inside. Put
ice in front of fans, also you can freeze Profil Water into popsicles & give after
they've been outside as they sweat too.

Love y'all & your precious babies!
