Sorry to hear about your baby, did the vet check him for a luxating patella?

@Paul Stott luxating patella is knee cap that does not stay in place. It moves around, causing a limp. You may also want to check him for hip dysplasia. It would not hurt to start him on a Glucosimine supplement for joints.

Hi Paul! Any chance you can add a picture or video? It could be a bone issue too, as sometimes bulldogs can grow wrong on certain foods. What food do you feed him?

A young pup without enough nutrition(even before you got him) could have ricketts,(sp?) From lack of iron for his bones to grow.

i will try to get my son to upload one ,ive been onto breeder and she kept a bitch n dog out of same litter and she has sent pic of her boy who is exactly the same ,she says its ok some are more bowed than others and at this age they are growing so fast and just keep a eye on him but hers is at same stage ,he is on wainwrights at minute as royal canine wasnt having solid stools with ,when i say bow legged i mean sometimes or most of the time when he stands his feet are only prob 4/6 inches apart..apparently my breeder said in the book bulldog bible it highlights this kind of stance

I have a 5 month old and noticed a change in his back legs yesterday. He is normally full of energy but yesterday when I took him out of the crate it seemed as if he had difficulty putting weight on his back legs. He was slow to get up and walked slower. He only wanted to sit and lay for the day when he is typically moving with my every step. This morning he was moving faster but still slow to get up. @PaulStott -Is your dog still active?

I would get him to the vet, if it's just a soft tissue injury they can give him something for pain. Depending on what your vets finds during exam will depend on if he will need X-rays

i had this problem once.. it was after i picked up my odie up from the vet from having a cherry eye surgery.. he was having trouble walking, vet said he was still not quite out of it from surgery, i took him home put him in his kennel and next morning went to him and he was practically dragging his back legs.. i was mortified.. i called vet and he said he could have bruising, i was very confused because i asked how would you have bruising from cherry eye surgery,, long story short, after 2 different vets looking at him we decided to take him to a specialist 2 hours away,, they told me that he would probably never walk again, i couldnt believe what i was hearing.. they said surgery was out of the question because it would probably paralyze him.. i took him home and called my breeder.. (best people ever) they took him back for a few weeks and put him on steroids, low dose.. got him walking again.. my boy lived 6 years after that.. we lost him due to other issues on valentines days this year,, miss him dearly, but we concluded the vet twisted his back during surgery and caused his issues.. hope your baby gets better.. oh, we have a new vet now that cares for our animals.. very happy now.. praying for your baby.. :pray2:

How horrifying, Gail, did that Vet ever take responsibility?
Even tho he walked afterwards did he limp or have pain, just
can't believe this!

I'm so sorry for your loss of Odie ;(

Paul, did you ever get a video sent (I was gone awhile).
How is he walking now? Also, did you put him on a MSM
and/or Glucosomine supplement?

he was walking good.. he did drag his toe nail some.. i never had to trim them on the back..lol.. but we did have to leave him on the steroids for almost a year.. it was a low dose and when i would start to ween him off he started getting week in legs so we put him back on it until he was able to do it without the meds..

no the vet would not say if anything happened.. I had him back to the specialist a few weeks before we lost him and they remembered him (im assuming it was in his chart records) and asked how we got him walking..

he was the best dog ever i will never forget him.. was there for me when i was spending my nights in hospital with my ill father.. i would come home and he seemed to know i was upset and snuggled with me.. i think sometimes he hung on for me because we lost him just a couple days after we laid my dad to rest.. like odie knew i needed him at the time.. Never forget him.. i called him my perfect man.. lol

no we did not have him on anything else.. we couldnt prove that vet did it but i always wondered why they said he could have had bruising ?? i think they must know they did something to him.. either twisted his back or something.. he was only 5 months old when it happened.. he always has a place in my heart... its still hard but i can smile when i think of him with the tears now.. 10987710_10204724017799350_9185457870491423831_n (1).jpg my perfect man..
