Hi all! I'm so upset with what's been going on with Priya since last July. Priya is 8 years old and has never had any issues at all...she's a raw puppy, nothing but. So in July she started getting patchy red scaly red spots. She was seen by a specialist and put on 2 week regimen of antibiotics for a staph infection. it cleared up!!!! fast forward to March. It started up again but a few days into it I rushed her to the er because she contracted a form of bordatella....another 2 weeks of antibiotics. Thank god the infection went away, but her skin issue got worse!!!! Now...today...the sneezing has started up again, she's super itchy and her skin is just awful...loosing soo much fur. I know that the vet is going to want to put her on steroids and i'm so concerned. anyone with any advice or info would be greatly appreciated!!!! Can i treat the allergies ( sneezing itching ) with otc ( benedryl doesnt work )?

thanks so much guys!!!!

I'm so sorry your baby is sick. I don't have any experience with allergies or bordatella, but it sounds like your doing the right thing seeing a specialist. I'm sure you'll get some ideas here. Good luck!

I learned of this item (Yucca Intensive)here on the site. Barkley has had some breakouts the past few weeks and I assumed it's been some seasonal allergies. Anyway, I decided to try this product out. After 3 days, I've seen some pretty amazing results. Skin is clearing up, and his itching has disappeared. Just wanted to share and give feedback to those who were curious about this stuff.

I give Wally Zyrtec… I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I'm going to tag some members that may be able to help you...

Sounds like seasonal allergies. Claritin and Zyrtec have been known to help. Just do not use the D formulations of either of them as it can cause major issues. It can also be food related as these guys can be fine for years and then all of the sudden develop an allergy to what they have been eating. You also mentioned that you had to deal with a staph infection. That type of infection can wreck havoc on their immune systems and cause future allergies as well. My Harlea fought MRSA and before she contracted it she was only allergic to a few things, but after beating it she became allergic to many other things that never bothered her before.

I'm sorry, I have no real experience on allergies or reactions this bad. Has anything in her diet or surroundings changed when this started, even a little? Have you given her probiotics with antibiotics? If not that I would start rather sooner than later. Like bullymama mentioned about the protein allergy, what are you feeding her?

OTC medication may or may not work. They generally don't work for us unless it's something like hives.

I can't tell if she's really that red or it's just the pic. But if she's that inflamed, it looks like an allergic reaction to something. Like others have said, could be the food. Could also be something in the home. Have you started
using a new detergent? House cleaner? Got new rugs, carpeting? Anything new that she came into contact with that could of caused this?

It could also be that it's just allergy season right now and hers are very bad this year. Sometimes, steroids are a necessary evil.
