    Default Dukes been acting weird

    Hey guys - it's been a while since my last post. All has been well until Sunday when duke started acting weird. He wouldn't eat his breakfast had to be hand fed dinner. This has continued he's only eating once a day and has to be hand fed. He currently on raw. He still drinks water- my dogs never drink much water though due to the raw diet. I Have tried different protein and still same result . He will eat Greek yogurt and peanut butter no problem. He's not interested in playing with duchess. He just lays around and pants. Not excessive panting but panting none the less. He pees and poops normal, not throwing up, gums are normal color, haven't taken temp yet because I couldn't find thermometer. I was thinking allergies initially because he was wincing one of his eyes and he had a couple head sneezes. The Benedryl seemed to help a bit but none the less I'm concerned. I think I'm going to end up taking him to the vet but I wanted to ask here first. My regular vet retired last year and I'm not real fond of his replacement. Any suggestions or advice would be great.

    @Scueva

    Could he have eaten anything he shouldn't have? A toy? Something foreign that could be bouncing around in his belly? Yes, I would get him to the vet for bloodwork, urinalysis, etc. Have them check for pancreatitis too.

    My whole heart, Tyson.
    Whoever said diamonds are a girls best friend, obviously never owned a Bulldog.

    This happened to Riggins a few weeks ago. Wouldn't eat his food unless I hand fed it to him. And he is a dog that's crazy for food! He would drink fine. Eat his treats fine. Same thing....color was fine....peeing and pooping normal. I took him to the ER. He had bloodwork and a X-ray. Bloodwork was great. The X-ray showed no blockage which we didn't think there was one anyway because he was pooping normal. It did show that he was full of gas. They felt that he was very uncomfortable due to all that gas. He now has to take Gas-x morning and night. After a few doses of the Gas-x, he went back to normal and got excited to eat again. Not saying that's what is going on with your baby, but your description sounded so similar so I wanted to share. I hope Duke feels better very soon!

    THanks for the responses guys- as far as him ingesting something you never really can be 100% sure but we watch them pretty intently when we are home and he is crated when we aren't home.

    Not sure where in Chicago you are but... Naperville animal hospital was awesome the one time we used them, if you are looking for a new vet.

    I would have him in for a full check up... he may be in some type of pain that is causing his lack of interest

    im going to call tomorrow and make an appointment cause he's not improving. I'm going to use Lockport animal hospital which is where the only other "bulldog specialist" is.

    Hi, We live in Bloomingdale and we use the Cleveland Vet Clinic in South Elgin. We see Dr. Maloney. She owns bulldogs and is very knowledgeable. All Pets in Lockport is awesome also, but if you're closer to the north side, South Elgin might be closer. The CEBR (Chicago English Bulldog Rescue) uses both All pets in Lockport and the Cleveland Vet Clinic in South Elgin.
