URGENT!!! Foot turned out and walking strange

I hope this isn't another really bad thing to happen to poor Sherman. He's had a tough 2 years of life. Yesterday, out of the blue, we noticed him sort of limping. His back legs, but especially one, seems to have the foot turned out a bit. He can walk around but he is swaying his back end and he hops a bit. We are taking him to the vet tonight. Did he tear something, brake something? Any thoughts?
we looked at his paw and I don't see anything wrong, and he doesn't seem sensitive when I touch that leg and foot. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks
