yeah, don't presume anything needs to be done for certain until x-rays are taken and they know exactly what's wrong. Then, I would those x-rays to an orthopedic specialist and see what they have to say. She might just need pain management and not full blown surgery. But again, no one can really say anything for certain without x-rays.

Totally agree... How can they know any of that without seeing x-rays

So after a talk with some people, we have found out the vet we went to is "money hungry" and only cares about the money and not the pet... Not taking those chances. So I have now requested an appointment online with a vet that has actually been good to my family members loved ones, and we will see what this second opinion does for us on monday.

Thank you, that is good news! I was thinking I smelled a fish in the other vet! Looking forward to hearing what the other vet says, so Jovi can get better.

I'm glad to hear she is eating, and has a little improvement I'm also happy that you are getting a second opinion from another vet. I can't understand why the other vet wouldn't have taken an X-ray first? That's the first thing my vet did after bulldozer jumped out of my arms as a puppy and sprained his paw/foot. She felt his legs, and said she couldn't feel anything wrong or broken, but wanted an X-ray to see if anything else was going on. She actually X-rayed both of his front legs so she could compare the two. I hope Jovi continues to improve, and that the other vet can figure out what is causing the problems with her legs. I hope it isn't anything serious. Please keep us posted.

I know this is a weird question, but has she been into any macadamia nuts? I had 2 yorkies that ate macadamias and were literally paralyzed in the back legs for 4 days.

no we dont have any of those in our house :/... and today she is walking... can tell she is in pain and shes limping and has to sit if she walks a little too much. But she is moving and going potty and eating and drinking. Guess we will see tomorrow. This is all just so weird. One min she is fine and nect min she is immobile.. I honestly cannot even guess or think of anything that could be wrong because it's such a weird case.

Any news? My vet always tells me that bulldogs have a higher pain tolerance so maybe she can cope with some of the pain but it doesnt mean she is pain free when she is able to move or play.

So we all just got home and here is the update:

So again, we did not get any X-Rays but we did infact have a great vet. So what we know is Jovi for sure has a ruptured ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in her right leg. The vet found that out just by examining her leg because it was THAT bad. Also, she checked her left leg and feels signs of it but is not positive if its in that leg aswell and would only be able to find that out with X-Rays. And reason we did not agree for the X-Rays to be done was we did not want Jovi to get anesthesia twice, and the vet recommended aswell to only get it the day of surgery because she already knows for a fact the right leg needs it. Also, we have to go see an orthopedic specialist within 3 weeks to get this done, she suggests this because if we wait any longer she could get severe arthritis and would DEFINITELY get it in her left leg aswell. Also, the $1200 that we were quoted per leg was wayyyy off as apparently we took her to an animal hospital that was not even board certified for it. And the actually cost per leg would be a MINIMUM of $2500, so we are looking at a HUGE vet bill in the next couple of weeks to add on to what has already been spent. We are starting a Go Fund Me account so I am hoping I can get a little help with that. But I am so depressed about this. I feel so bad for her and te pain she is in. :(
