This weekend Boeboe all the sudden got little bleeding wounds on her head:( she was perfectly fine and then she started rolling around on the carpet and when she stood up she had the wounds:confused:

I saw a flea on Bennie the day before so I thought maybe it was a reaction to flea bites? I gave them both flea baths, washed ALL the beddings and carpets, cleaned the house and now today about an hour ago I gave them flea baths again. Boeboe's head looked better so I figured she'd be fine but now after the second bath she's scratching herself bloody behind her ears:(

Her ears are clean and not red or anything so I don't think they are what causing her to do that... she's also gotten small bumps on her skin on her bum, she seemed better but now it's worse again:unsure:

I looked for ticks on her, couldn't find any, I can't find any fleas either... I don't know what's going on:( Can it be the changes in the house cos of the move? Or can it be the food? I changed her to diet food about 3 weeks ago? I'm so sad for her and our vet is closed now and it's very far away. I'm gonna have to take her to the vet in town tomorrow, I hope they can help:unsure:

Any ideas? She's her normal self other then the scratching behind the ears and the small bumps on her bum... she's eating, drinking and barking like normal, so I guess that's good... I'm so sad for her:'(

Could be stress induced causing her immune system to go down. Do you have any topical anti itch stuff you can put on them like hydrocortisone cream, panalog ointment?

Hi Petra, could you post a picture of the sores? It could be anything from allergies, insect bites, ant bites, fleas bites and flea allergies. Maybe he is scratching himself until he bleeds? The other thing it could be, does your bullies ever play rough with each other? My guys sometimes, play rough and chew on each other, it will sometimes leave a little cut and bleed, and then it scabs over.

Could also be a reaction from the flea bath, since she got two fairly close together. Give her some Benedryl 1 mg. per pound of weight to see if that helps with the itching and whelps on her bum.

Thank you bullmama, I had some "Cure all Healing cream" that I put on, she stopped itching after that so it helped:) I'm also thinking things are a bit much for her right now... she doesn't like changes and our house is standing basically empty at this point with only furnitures and everything else is packed in boxes, it's not nice:(
Vikinggirl here are pictures.... She only got the bumps that's on the first picture last night after the flea bath, before that she only had some scabs on her head (second picture) and she scratched behind her ears, you can see it's bloody there:(

I'm waiting for the vet to open so I can call them, it's still 40 minutes... I don't know what she'll do and I'm worried as we usually take them to a specialist vet in the capital city. I'm thinking she'll give her a cortisone shot? That should be fine right? I'm not liking this:'(

Of course the vet is out on a farm and wont be in till later:( It's the worst living in a small farm town when you have a Bulldog:fie: I gave Boeboe a cold shower, I thought that will ease the itch a little:unsure: She's not acting sick or anything, she's eating and all but she's itchy. I don't have any benedryl, I don't even know if we have it her in SA so I'm gonna have to wait for the vet. Poor baby:'( I got this picture now after the bath when she rolled around. It's bad:(

20140917_095356.jpg

The vet wasn't very nice, she moaned when I said I gave her a flea bath cos I thought the initial breakout on her head was caused by fleas:( She probably wants to sell me some stupid monthly pill or collar now... NOT gonna happen.

I'm so confused about what caused this... sure the reaction now can be the flea shampoo but she did have a reaction before I even bathed her with that so it's something else too in that case:( It is spring here now so it can be a number of things... ticks, fleas, allergies... the change cos we're moving in 1 1/2 week... some bacteria maybe? The vet better call soon cos it's getting warm now and I don't have a car so I have to walk her there:( it's not far, maybe 3-5 minutes but still... maybe if I flush her with cold water before we leave it will be fine?

I'm starting to get pissed off at the vet... it's almost 6 hours since I called her and she still hasn't called back and the temperature outside here now is 37 C (almost 99 F) so I can't walk Boeboe there any longer, it's to flippin hot and I don't have a car:(. Thankfully Boeboe seems better, she's not scratching herself and the bumps on her bum is smaller, almost gone. She still has some red dots on her tummy but they look better too. Her head I think is ok cos it's scabs by now... If I had the option of taking her to another vet I would, I'm seriously fed up:bitching: this is my baby Boeboe girl we're talking about:'(

What do you guys think? If the vet calls do I dare to wait till tomorrow morning when it's cooler again? I really can't walk her there now, it's like living on Mercury outside:fie: What can I get at the pharmacy to put on her tummy? I don't wanna give her pills cos I don't know what's going on:unsure: But there must be some kind of cream I can use? bullmama, are there different kinds of hydro-cortisone creams? are all safe you think? I don't know what panalog ointment is:ashamed:, I'll ask at the pharmacy if they have it. I'm thinking I should just take the pictures of her to the pharmacy and they can help me, I've done it before, they are apparently better than the vet...:censored:.

The bumps on her back look like hives to me. Blue gets those and I give him Claritin which gets rid of them in 24 hours. Claritin is an antihistamine. I'm sure you don't have Claritin there, but you can run to the drugstore and get an antihistamine. Just be sure it doesn't have any decongestant in it, and it's unflavored. Can you call your vet and ask how much to give?

I'm thinking it's a definite reaction to something because of the hives. Generally, those clear up quickly with the right meds.

I agree w/the gang get an antihistamine to give her… I keep some on hand at ALL times for me/kids/dogs…
I was thinking like David, maybe it's the shampoo, or is your backyard different at your new house? Different grass, carpet, flooring?!! It almost looks like something she was laying on…

We're only moving next Saturday but our house is now all different with boxes everywhere, it's a mess:blink: and Boeboe doesn't do well with changes:( The reaction on her bum and belly might very well be the shampoo but what caused the breakout on her head is something else... maybe it's the heat... today we had just under 100 F here, it's CRAZY warm and has been for a few days. Maybe she got bitten by something we didn't see... I'm driving myself crazy trying to think back what happened that day:yell:

Poor baby girl. :(

Panalog is an ointment from your vet, maybe, not sure about SA but I'm sure they have something similar. It's great for numerous things- get the ingredients off the internet and bring to your vet next time you see her.

Benedryl or something similar should be at your store.

Here is the active ingredient, in benedryl, the dosage is mg per pound:

Active ingredient
(in each capsule)Purpose
Diphenhydramine HCl 25 mgAntihistamine

Thanks everyone:) came home with Boeboe from the vet a couple of hours ago, she got cortisone pills so hopefully she'll feel better very soon. The vet thinks it's the change from normal food to diet food we made about 3 weeks ago together with the changes cos we're moving next week.

Bennie's wounds on his throat she thinks is just cos of the folds, she says now especially when it's warmer it gets moist and causes the itch and so on:(

So pills for Boeboe and special shampoo for Bennie and we should hopefully be sorted out now:unsure:
